88th District Convention 2009-10 Bakersfield, CA
The 88th CA/NV District Danish Brotherhood and Danish Sisterhood Convention was held in Bakersfield , CA on May 15, 16 2009 at the Double Tree Inn. The District Danish Brotherhood and all the Lodges would like to thank the Bakersfield Sisterhood Lodge 168 Vintergaekken for a wonderful convention and the hospitality was excellent. As incoming President I liked coming home to my younger roots as I spent my youthful years living in Bakersfield and graduated from North High school many years ago and it is always fun coming back to see the growth and many changes that have happened over the years.
The District reviewed its future and will be looking at ways to improve our Lodges and increase participation and bring in new members to enhance who we are and to hopefully get the word out to those who do not participate, that Danes do have fun even when they get older. There are so many people in the US the have Danish heritage that we have not touched, maybe it is time to find ways to start a new movement to bring Danes together especially in CA. Many of our lodges are doing many active things in their communities LA, Santa Barbara , and Solvang are seemingly the most active lodges in the District, let all the rest work toward those goals...
The Scandinavian Festival seems to work in Southern CA . Maybe we start small and build it by getting sponsors etc. Food for thought for the future survival of our Danish Heritage!
89th District Convention 2010-2011 Eureka, CA
The 2010-2011 Convention will be held in Eureka , Ca May 28, 29 at the Red Lyon Hotel. The North Country Ferndale Danish Brotherhood Gimle Lodge 95 and Danish Sisterhood Fieldronning Lodge 131 invite the CA /NV Danish Brotherhood and Danish Sisterhood Lodges to the 89th Convention in Eureka . The convention committee will be sending out information to the lodges around the first of the year. They are looking forward to seeing a lot of folks at the convention so please put it on your calendar.

There were six applicants for the awards and the final three winners were:
Ed Madsen Award - Bethany Brown - $500 Owen Miller’s Granddaughter
Danish District - Travis Sanborn - $500 Don & Eunice Sanborn’s Grandson
District Award - Aaron Villa - $500 Member of Solvang Lodge
Honorary Life Member Award
This is a very special award not given just to any member and the limited recipients of the award show how important it is. Yes this award is well deserved, in all his efforts put forward to support the Danish Heritage and our future, without further speculation the winner is Dave Seale 2009 Honorary Life award winner, well deserved!
I would like to thank all that applied and my hat is off to the winners.
As your new president, I would like to thank all the lodges and delegates that supported my nomination and election. I will try to my best ability, not to disappoint any of you, as the captain of this large ship I will insure that rudder is true and we stay on course during my term.
