Danish National Symphony Director to Seattle

posted Jan 15, 2010 9:24 AM by danish brotherhood

Good Morning.  I am an usher at Benaroya Hall, home of the Seattle Symphony.  My father's family is from Denmark and I have been there many times.

Copenhagen has a brand new concerthus that has received worldwide notice for its architectural and acoustic achievements.  The principal conductor of the Danish National Symphony is Mr. Thomas Dausgaard.  Through my work at Benaroya I have learned that Mr. Dausgaard will be in Seattle at the end of March to conduct three performances of the Seattle Symphony performing works by Rachmaninov and Sibelius.

I would like to see if one or more of the local Danish organizations in Seattle would be interested in helping publicize Mr. Dausgaard's visit to Seattle and attend one of his concerts.  I have contacted the Group Sales and Marketing office at Benaroya and have learned that a group rate of 20% reduction on the cost of individual tickets can be obtained for local Danish Americans, family and friends if we can stir up some interest in honoring Mr. Dausgaard and the exchange of culture between Denmark and the United States.

I can explain the mechanics of this and the contacts at Benaroya that would be most helpful if your organization has an interest.  I would suggest focusing on the performance scheduled for Saturday evening, March 27, 2010.  After the concert Mr. Dausgaard will be taking questions from interested patrons in Benaroya's grand lobby.

I am hoping that by sharing this information with you as a proud Danish American and lover of the arts, that this opportunity to benefit from Mr. Dausgaard's visit is not missed.

Sincerely,
--
