Research on New Forms of Learning with Innovative Technology

Dani Ben-Zvi/

Technology is an important part of my life as a learner, teacher and researcher. My knowledge in the field of educational technologies was acquired from my practices as a teacher, moderator of collaborative learning communities, innovator of new ways of learning and thinking with tools, and recently as the founder and head of the Educational Technologies Graduate Program at the University of Haifa.

Studies, in which technology is being put in the forefront while statistics is positioned in the background, are likely to become the major part of my future research. The research will be oriented towards constructing a theoretical framework, improving methodologies, as well as creating innovative instructional activities and pedagogies. In particular, I plan to engage in the following activities:

1.    Inventing, designing, teaching and studying the role of technological tools in improving learning and teaching of complex subject matters in the context of inquiry-based classrooms (such as current work with graduate students on “TinkerPlots”).

2.    Studying innovative collaborative technologies (such as current work with colleagues and graduate students on “Wiki”) that can revolutionize learning processes in collaborative communities by enabling active participation of the learners.
