Dancing Hydrologist

About Diane

Diane is a certified White Belt Nia Instructor who leads edgy, fun classes in Albuquerque, NM.  She started teaching in Septemeber 2008 after a wonderfully inspiriing year and a half of Nia.  Diane discovered Nia by chance when her regular step aerobics class was cancelled and replaced with a Nia class at the gym.  After years of step aerobics, Diane loved and appreciated the whole-body movement that Nia inspires.

Diane works as a hydrologeologist for an environmental consulting firm in Albuquerque, NM. She holds a Master of Science degree in Hydrology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, both from New Mexico Tech.  Diane has a wonderful husband who supports all that she strives to accomplish and two fantastic dogs.

Personal Statement: I decided to teach Nia because I wanted to bring the joy and self-appreciation that I am learning for my self to others.  When I teach Nia, I feel as if I’m doing good for people in my community, something that is deeply important to me.  Nia also gives me an awesome workout, providing the aerobic and strength building aspects I love.  In teaching, I learn, explore, and grow. With Nia I am discovering who I am, learning how to be the person I want to be, and am able to live my best life.  It is with great honor and joy that I teach.  I feel blessed to dance with such an amazing community and each day I am filled with gratitude for all that you give.
