Dallas County Kids and Cops

Dear Dallas County Citizen,
We are grateful you have allowed one of our people, assisting in organizing this annual program, time to share with you our expectations and needs.
As you know, the Dallas County Sheriff's Office is making a better effort to establish good rapport with our kids. Starting early and following our young people as they grow into productive and law biding adults is of key importance. That is why this profgram is so important.
This years Cops and Kids Day will be a time for us to provide games, prizes, instruction and promotion of child safety issues. There will be several demonstrations by law enforcement, fire/rescue, medical providers, safety products vendors, Missouri Department of Social Services and other organizations like the Dallas County Neighborhood Watch.
We will concentrate on having fun as well. Some of the fun will include karaoke, dunk tank, demonstrations and music. And everything, including food and prizes will be free to teh kids and parents.
Will you join us in this effort? Any donation will be appreciated.
Sincerely, Mike Rackley, Sheriff

Welcome to the "DCNW" Neighborhood!

REASON FOR DCNW -In essence, Neighborhood Watch is a crime prevention program that stresses education and common sense. It teaches citizens how to help themselves by identifying and reporting suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. In addition, it provides citizens with the opportunity to make their neighborhoods safer and improve the quality of life. Neighborhood Watch groups typically focus on observation and awareness as a means of preventing crime and employ strategies that range from simply promoting social interaction and "watching out for each other" to active patrols by groups of citizens.
The reason for this effectiveness is rather simple: Involving community members in watch programs decreases opportunities for criminals to commit crime rather than attempting to change their behavior or motivation.

Today's Neighborhood Watch Program is an effective means of crime control and neighborhood cohesiveness. While not all of the programs in place today go by the same name, they all accomplish the same goal: to bring community members together to fight crime.
