About Farm Day



If you eat it or wear it, you are apart of agriculture!


The goal of FARM DAY is to help urban students (and their teachers and parents) learn about the important interdependence between urban and agricultural populations. This program focuses on food and fiber production in Texas and the United States, and it complies with 4th grade TEKS.

Target Audience
Farm Day a free educational learning excursion for public schools, private schools and home school children in 4th grade in Dallas County.

Learning Stations
Farm Day is divided into six learning stations, which explain facts about agriculture and relates farm and ranch production to items in everyday life. Students may be able to actually see and touch farm commodities while learning about the products made from them. Past learning stations have included:
  • Dairy
  • Poultry
  • Urban Forestry
  • Natural Fibers
  • Cereal Grains
  • Farm Animals
What about lunch?
Thanks to our wonderful community partners and volunteers, all participating youth, teachers, parents and buses drivers are provided a free lunch during Farm Day! Participants with specific food requirements are highly encouraged to bring a portable lunch with them.

Farm Day Transportation
Schools are responsible for reserving their own bus transportation through the appropriate school district. Parking is free at the event.

Required Time Allotment
Farm Day is approximately a 3 hour event (not including transport time) and can host 1300 students each day. It is held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday usually the second week in May.

Cost to attend Farm Day
Thanks to our wonderful community partners and volunteers, there is NO admission cost to your school or students.
