My Reflection on Cynthia's First Observation

I felt the lesson that my mentor Cynthia observed went really well in terms of classroom management; however, after I introduced a couple of activities, I realized my modeling and explanation of some of the activities could use some improvement.  After discussing these concerns with my mentor, I felt like I received some constructive advice on how to prevent myself from having these issues in the future.  I plan to improve this aspect of my teaching by extensively planning out what I am going to model before class before class and eliciting comprehension checks from my students before sending them off to work on their own or in groups.  As a result, I hope to reduce confusion amongst my students and to save myself instruction time by eliminating instances of me repeating the same directions over and over again to different individuals or groups.  I plan to use the time I save from not having to repeat instructions to address my students individual needs with the assignment.
