Countdown to 2010 Robotics Competition:

Countdown to

Pessimist: "The glass is half empty."

Optimist: "The glass is half full."

Engineer: "That glass is twice as large as it needs to be."

Welcome to the official De Anza College Engineering & Technology Club website. We will be posting many important things here. Any and all updates will me made available through this site. The Engineering & Technology Club provides a platform for students who are interested in Math, Science & Engineering to connect and engage in innovative projects.

In 2008, the ETC engaged Foothill Community College in a Robotics competition which lasted for two quarters. Fortunately, De Anza college won. This year, De Anza again hosted a competition against Ohlone College and Cañada College. With the increased level of competition, De Anza got second place. We are also planning another competition for the year 2010.

With the support of the PSME department, the ETC has come across a substantial amount of funds. As such we have took on a solar based project of unprecedented magnitude. The ETC's overall goal is to widen the appeal of engineering to students throughout De Anza.

The Engineering and Technology Club meets every Friday, 3:00PM at S17 building, however members are welcome to come as early as 12:30PM to work on and test the robots, as the competition is ever nearing.

A peek at last year's competition (Spring Quarter 2009)

Interesting Fact: You might be somewhat inclined to know what schools the alumni graduated to from the ETC. Over eighty percent of the lead engineers transferred to University of California Berkeley; while the others were also accepted to very competitive four year universities with great engineering programs. So the bar has been set very high; as such you should be inclined to becoming one of the lead engineers for next year. The President has made the point of keeping a keen eye on members who may be prospective lead engineers for next year.

The ETC has a Facebook group which you might be interested in. It allows for our other officers to update information more quickly. Of course, we also have some photos from past events that might interest you. Most importantly, you can collaborate with fellow members.
