masks and wearable sculpture
There's
a kind of magic in masks. Masks conceal one face, but reveal another.
The one that only comes out in darkness. I bet you could do just what
you liked, behind a mask...?'
["Maskarade" by Terry Pratchett, p. 353, Esme Weatherwax to the murderer]
All of the masks I make are made by hand.
These are not store-bought masks that I have re-painted. Each is a unique work of art. They're made of various materials including paper mache, neoprene casting rubber and plaster and are hand-painted in acrylic paint and decorated with various objects including feathers, fabric and found items.
These masks are wearable works of art -- created in light-weight, comfortable materials.
These masks are made of a hand-made base and covered in lush fabrics and decorated in beautiful trims, feathers and other items.
These masks measure about 6 inches by 4 inches. Small enough for ornaments on a tree, or small decorative items to hang year 'round.
These masks are works of art and sculpture and not suitable for wearing. Each of these masks can take up to 30 hours of work to create and are most often inspired by mythology, folklore and religion.
My masks can be purchased at
