Cyndi Lauper is a pop icon, a feminist, and a human rights activist--she has been called a cartoon, a clown, and a "libtard". But more than anything, she is known as a unique pioneer who paved the way for generations of female artists.
She is the first female artist to have four top 5 singles on one album. That was a record set by the Beatles more than 20 years before. Her first album, She's So Unusual sold more than 16 million copies, and launched the following hits: "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" (which went to number 2), "Time After Time" (charted at number 1), "She Bop" (went to number 3), "All Through The Night" (went to number 4), and "Money Changes Everything" (number 5).
Cyndi went on to make other big hits like "(The Goonies) 'R' Good Enough" (which went to number 10), "True Colors" (went to number 1), "Change of Heart" (which went to number 3), "What's Going On?" (went to number 11), and "I Drove All Night" (which went to number 6).
Her personality and talent made her a target for the media. She has been featured on the cover of everything from WWF to Ms. Magazine, from New York Times to Homo Extra. This is my personal collection of periodical covers featuring Cyndi Lauper. Below you will find them listed in chronological order, according to date of publication.
