Moser One Hour Record Colours
When I first saw this bike I was working as a bicycle mechanic in a small country town in 1986. A wealthy customer ordered it especially for his son. I had never seen such a bike before and never knew of the brand Moser, but I knew one thing, I liked it a lot. I spent all morning building it up with a Campagnolo Record groupset, racing bikes didn't get any better than this.

The photo above is a recent image I found on eBay and doesn't do the bike justice. In real-life the paint job pings in the sun and blue and white strips look electric. As a completed bike it looks equally as good. Today this bike would still turn heads, and be a great buy if you ever find one.

La Vie Claire Look Bike
My 1986 La Vie Claire team LOOK bike.

A very well designed advertisement for the very first clip-less pedal system by Look in Wielerrevue Magazine from December 1985.

In 1990 I was hit my a car while hiding this bike and the whole back section of the bike was squashed. I had the bike repaired by Hillman Cycles and re-sprayed. The groupset is Campagnolo Chorus 1990 model, with Cinelli stem and bars and Turbo seat.

The wheels are new, Campagnolo Ventos 2005s. I haven't completely restored this bike, just cleaned it up and replaced some of the decals with custom made decals I had made. The end result is a real head-turner, and even today this bike and colour scheme looks great.

When looking for one be sure to check the forks. The forks of a genuine Look bike should have large decals as the black and yellow strips. If the black and yellow strips have been painted on, be cautious it be may a fake.

Ciöcc Worlds 77  (click images to enlarge)

Here's a nice example of a "Before and After" of a 1982 Ciöcc purchased secondhand. The new owner completely stripped it and re-painted the frame. Added aero brake levers, white Benotto bar tape, Selle Italia Turbo saddle and a new set of decals from cyclomondo. The rest of bike is all original, the Campagnolo groupset was cleaned up and put back on, and is working fine.

(Above) The Ciöcc after a new paint job and new white decals.

Well done to the new owner, J.D. Falcon of Clearwater, Florida, nice job mate.

Ciöcc bikes are great, after all they made Concorde for many years. Old or new Ciöcc bikes are great quality and fine workmanship still from Italy.

Introducing my next Concorde project
I bought this bike while looking for the newer PDM colour scheme from the 90s. The opportunity was too good to pass up as it is exactly my size. A genuine PDM x Team bike, although not with its original Campagnolo groupset, the frame and fork made from Columbus TSX is in great condition.

The paint work looks good and its still sporting all the decals and Concorde pantographs on the fork crown, rear brake bridge, bottom bracket, head tube lugs and the Italian flag on the top tube. The Columbus TSX tubing decal is still intact and all the chrome looks good. I plan on leaving this one original,  only cleaning and polishing the paint work and chrome. Then building it up with entire Campagnolo C Record from 1988. This one should come together nicely.

My first Concorde project

16 Jan 2010
Since December I have managed to get a few more bits and pieces, like chain, 7 speed cluster and Turbo saddle. And finally received the Cinelli XA stem in the mail which was purchased from ebay back on 2 Nov 2009.

So I put the bars in (Cinelli 64 - 44) and brakes levers on so I could take it for a brief test ride. I had forgotten how great this bike was to ride. Its hard to explain, but it feels fast and agile. And the Cinelli XA stem looks fantastic - worth the wait and the $46 US.

I couldn't find any old PDM water bottles anywhere, so I decided to make my own by creating the PDM logo on the computer and printing up some stickers. They are not quite the vintage but still look OK I think. Next is the handlebar tape and brake cables, which is a quick job, and it will be ready for the Retro Ride.

19 Dec 2009
Just got back my wheels today thanks to Cycle Science for the build and old stock Mavic MA40s. I found the Campagnolo C Record hubs on ebay and with a bit of a polish, they came up as good as new. All up the wheelset looks pretty good, just need to find a cluster and chain now.

Got my PDM decals back from the printer and have just finished putting them on. I am very happy with the result, looks just like the real thing. They cost me about $200 to get them printed. Quite expensive, but what other option does one have for a decal that isn't made anymore?

All I need now is a Cinelli XA quill headstem, handlebars and white cork tape, and a black Turbo seat, which by popular demand Selle Italia have released into the market again. I'm getting mine from Eltham Cycles.
23 Oct 2009
Got my forks back from the chrome platers today and I added the Columbus fork decals. The result looks very nice, as good as the day I bought the bike.

I also installed the Campagnolo headset and cool Delta brakes. As a junior cyclist I loved this stuff but could never afford it for my Concorde. After almost 20 years, its nice now to see the original groupset back on the Concorde. In the early 90's many of the pro riders on the PDM team had Cobolto brakes installed as they worked better and were easier to adjust and maintain. Sean Kelly often used the current Campagnolo Chorus brake.

Below you can see that I have completed the paint job and put on the stickers I purchased from Cyclomondo. The white I used is called "Sno White" and the black, "Pearl Black".

I have also started to add the Campagnolo Record groupset, which looks fantastic. Currently the forks are being re-chromed.

25 Sept 2009
Its always best to use paint stripper rather than sand blasting when the bike has chrome work.

Above you can see the how well the paint stripper removes the paint leaving all the detail such as this great Cinelli bottom bracket that was common on PDM Concorde team bikes.

Also notice the number hanger indicating this bike was used by a professional team, and the internal cable guide which was a popular thing to do back then.

Have a look at the above 1987 Tour de France video to see the PDM team bike in action.

Like many PDM Concorde team bikes this is made from Columbus TSX tubing. Some were also made from SLX tubing. Above you can see that the lugs are cast not pressed, and the front derailleur hanger is chromed.

Retro Bicycle Parts:

Campagnolo Delta brakes were used by many cyclists around the world and the best pro cyclists. They were a very popular brake and date from 1987 to early 1990s. They had a very hash braking feel that was either fully on or not at all. Despite their heavy appearance they are actually quite light, as was the entire Record range.
