Cycle Somerset Rides for 2011

Throughout the summer we will be running a bi-weekly weekend rides programme which can be viewed on our calendar (see the home page).  Alternatively, to download the list as an Adobe document click on the "Rides List.pdf" attachment at the bottom of this page
(which will be added once it is finallised).
On a Wednesday evening, throughout the summer (with the last one in October),  we also get together for an informal ride to a pub.  These rides start at 18:15 from the Brewhouse theatre in Taunton, the ride destination and distance is decided by those that turn up on the evening!

This year we are also running a series of ladies only rides, particularly targeted at those that are new to cycling with a group, new to cycling or who feel that they may not be fit enough for our other rides.   For more information on these rides goto the Ladies only rides page.

In addition to these "official" rides we often get together at additional times - if you would like email notification of these just drop Jonathan an email requesting that you be added to the "informal rides list".    See Contact Us pages for email addresses!

Monthly Meetings

Want another excuse to get out on the bike - then why not join us for our monthly club meeting. These are very informal events where the general day to day running of the club is discussed, the world is put to rights and the occasional pint of beer is consumed.

We meet on the first Wednesday of the month, between 8 – 10 pm (venue currently the Queens Arms Pitminster).

NOTE: Due to club trips, the meetings of
6th July and 7th September 2011 will be held on the second Wednesday of the month i.e. 13th July and 14th Sept respectively .

Tuesday (daytime) Coffee Pot rides

At a loss as to what to do on a Tuesday, why not join the CTC / Wellington Wheelers / Cycle Somerset lot for a chat and a cuppa, ride start, locations etc can be found at Coffee Pot rides.  (Sorry link is temporarily broken, but will be corrected as soon as possible)   These rides are hugely popular with upto 50 cyclists attending !

You are welcome to meet up and ride from the start or you can choose your own route to and from the coffee stop. All are welcome and this should
provide an excellent opportunity for cyclists in the south west to meet.

Audax UK
The long distance cycling organisation!

Audax UK (also known as AUK) oversees the running of long-distance cycling events, and, using a system of timed checkpoints, validates and records every successful ride.
The 'classic' distances for AUK events are 200km, 300km, 400km and 600km.  However AUK aims to have something for everybody and events start from 50km (about 32 miles) and go all the way up to 1400km (about 875 miles)
