WHAT IS CANADA WORLD YOUTH?

In brief, Canada World Youth designs and delivers international educational programs for youth (aged 17-24) with a focus on volunteer work and community development in a cross-cultural setting. Since 1971, more than 27,000 youth have participated in Canada World Youth programs. As a team, youth live and work in communities in Canada and overseas, learning about local and international development and gaining essential job skills for the future.

Canada World Youth is about learning by doing. Its non-formal educational model involves core elements such as the team approach, the counterpart relationship, host families and communities, and partner organizations.

COMING TO WINNIPEG, MB!

From early September to late November, Winnipeg will be hosting a group of 18 Canada World Youth (CWY) participants from India and across Canada.

The participants' three-month stay in the community will be the first stage of a CWY educational program. The second half of the program will take place in India.

Integration into the community and volunteer work with local agencies and organizations are key goals of the program. It affords participants an opportunity to learn about the region as well as the local lifestyle and culture.

HOST FAMILIES!

During their three month stay, participants live in pairs (one Canadian and one Indian) with local families. Through this experience, participants become integrated into the community, while families have the opportunity to learn more about their community, country and the world. If you are interested in becoming a host family, please contact Leslie McNabb, Canadian Project Supervisor, at 284.4591 or lmcnabb@cwy-jcm.org.

VOLUNTEER PLACEMENTS!

CWY needs organizations interested in welcoming one young Canadian and one young Indian volunteer into their work place. We are seeking placements with a focus on social service, health, community development, the environment, and education.

Participants will have a wide variety of skills, capacities, and language levels but are incredibly motivated to learn & to give back to the community.

If you feel your organization would be a good match for a 4 day a week placement starting in September, please contact Leslie McNabb, Canadian Project Supervisor,
lmcnabb@cwy-jcm.org or 284.4591.
