These little Uta's are everywhere in the desert. Yellow-throated males, however, manage to snatch females away from them for mating. * Blue-throated males are middle-sized and form strong pair bonds. Today in Downtown Greensboro at the Greensboro Grasshoppers baseball game, there were thousands of school kids but none quite like the kids at my son's school. The Newcomer School is an All-ESL school for children who have come to America and need help learning English. Some may have come here when their parents moved here for a job, some may be refugees, and some like Will, may have been adopted. But all are the same in that they are learning English and American culture. They learned to do the Wave. They learned to sing "Take Me Out To the Ballgame." They learned to eat hot dogs, cotton candy and snow cones. They learned some of the rules of baseball. These 3 guys sat in front of me. I was just so tickled that they let me take their photo.. they BEGGED me to take more. They lined up more friends and asked for me to take MORE photos. Before the day was over, I had arranged w/ the principal to come to their school soon to take candid photos of the kids on the playground or with their friends. He told me that many of these children may never have had a photograph of themselves. Look at what the world has been missing! Thank you new friends. I enjoyed meeting you. Thank you for offering to share your cotton candy and popcorn. And playing rock/paper/scissors... You guys are just too cute. Will is our 2nd child to attend the Newcomer School. We can't say enough good things about the staff and especially the principal, Dr. Jake Henry. He has a heart for children like few others I know.
