SEPTEMBER Inductions '09: Saturday 26th September 1-5pm SEWING MACHINE INDUCTION A beginner/refresher course for those looking to improve their skills and raise their confidence in using a domestic sewing machine. Tips on maintainance, operations and some useful transferable skills of the trade to help you realise your creations. This workshop also qualifies you to come back and hire the space in your own time. £20 (including materials) maximum 4 places. Sunday 16th August 1-5pm BOOKBINDING Learn traditional hard-back binding techniques to make your own sketchbooks , notebooks , journals and photo albums. Can be used with virgin (new) materials or to recycle misprinted paper and window envelopes. £20. maximum 7 places. Saturday 22th of August 1-5pm UV EXPOSURE SCREEN PRINTING learn to use the CUTS exposure unit to develop screens using Diazo (photo-sensitive) emulsion, to print detailed images and type. This workshop also allows you to come back and hire the facilities in your own time. £25 including materials. Maximum 5 places.

Make decorative patches to hide a worn spot or resiliant stain, or just give a bit of 'bling' to an old garment. Chair Revamp
Creative customisation of a wooden dining chair with upholstered seat. Customise the frame, screen-print your own bespoke fabric and learn basic upholstery techniques to apply the finishing touches.
£45 for the weekend, including all materials (you can take your chair home with you) and chance to exhibit your creation at a group exhibition later in the year.

Recycle Crisp packets, thread waste and other fiberous materials into a lacey paper-like material using household appliances. Help make a stock of the material and a list of all it’s possible uses to be part of a larger development project.

These workshops are open to individuals or groups of upto 7 per session. Young people under 18 must be accompanied.

April 05/04/08: Advanced Screen Print *CUTS Screen Print Certificate Holders only* Develop further techniques in stencil-cutting, devloping multiple colour designs and semi-permanent screens that can be used time and time again. Materials provided.
12/04/08: Basic Sewing Machine Techniques *Induction Workshop* participants recive a CUTS certificate in Screen Print, allowing them to advanced courses and weekly drop-in sessions, . Suitable for beginners, how to thread the machine, how to set controls, free machine embroidery techniques, satin and zig-zag stitch for applique. Materials provided.

Workshop Title Creative Garment Workshop Workshop Leader/s Luisa Dawn & Beccy Williams Dates 4 Tuesday evening sessions October 30th, November 6th, 13th & 20th Times 6-9pm Costs £7.50 per session, or £20 for 4 session advance booking. All materials included, but feel free to bring you own choice of Fabrics. Additional Participants completing this course will be awarded a C.U.T.S Induction Certificate in ‘Sewing Machine Use’ and will be entitled to book additional studio-time to use these facilities at reduced rates. Design development and initial pattern cutting with Luisa Dawn. Choose from a variety of garment-types. Week Two (06/11/07): Textile manipulation techniques with Beccy Williams and Luisa Dawn. Machine-embroider, appliqué or screen-print* cut pieces before sewing. Participants will be awarded a C.U.T.S Induction Certificate in ‘Sewing Machine Use’ for completion of this session. * For use of screen print facilities, participants need to hold a C.U.T.S Induction Certificate in ‘Screen-Print’; please see ‘3-D Cushion Workshop’ Week One.
