After the age groupers warm up the course in the morning, the professionals will take their turn at the 1.5k swim, 40k bike, 10k run for the 26th annual USA Triathlon Elite National Championship at Henry Hagg Lake, outside Portland, Ore., on Saturday afternoon.
The women's race is scheduled for noon, while the men compete at 2:15 p.m.
Follow the race live here with online text updates beginning at noon.
It's the first time the age groupers and elites have raced for national titles at the same venue since 1992 in Cleveland, Ohio.
For the elites, the event will also serve as an ITU Pan American Cup and will be the fourth race in the 2008 Haul to the Great Wall Elite Series. A $30,000 prize purse is on the line, plus bonuses from Speedo for the top U.S. athletes.
Highlighting the field are all six athletes who represented the U.S. at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games last month. For the women, 19 women are on the start list, which includes Olympians and past national champions Laura Bennett, Julie Ertel and Sarah Haskins. But these Olympians will be challenged by Sarah Groff, 2005 champion Becky Lavelle, two-time U23 Worlds silver medalist Jasmine Oeinck and a host of other athletes vying for their first title.
The 37 men will include 2008 Olympians Hunter Kemper, Matt Reed, and Jarrod Shoemaker, plus 2004 Olympian and defending national champion Andy Potts. Kemper will be going for his seventh national title, a feat that would put him one ahead of U.S. legend Scott Molina. Don't count out current elite series points leader Brian Fleischmann, Portland-native and past world No. 1 Mark Fretta, Tim O'Donnell, or 2002 champion Seth Wealing.
A unique angle to the men's race is the appearance of Ben Collins, who just a year ago won the overall age group national title at this same venue and is learning the ropes of professional, draft-legal competition.

About the Haul to the Great Wall Elite Series
The five-race draft-legal Olympic distance series is giving triathlon fans a chance to see athletes who have qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team and those up-and-coming athletes who have their sights set on London in 2012. Each race also includes a stellar international field of competitors.
The series features more than $800,000 in prize money.
Brian Fleischmann and Julie Ertel are the current series leaders, with several of Saturday's competitors within striking distance.
The schedule concludes with the Series Championship at The San Francisco Triathlon at Treasure Island on November 8.
Athletes must compete in a minimum of three events to be eligible for the overall series title. If athletes compete in more than three events, the top-three results will be included in the points total. Overall Series Prize Purse $20,000: Three Deep - 1st $5,000, 2nd $3,000, 3rd $2,000.
Swimwear and sports apparel giant Speedo is also providing $5,000 in bonus money for each race on the five-city tour. American men and women who finish in the top-three in their respective races are eligible for the bonuses, with $1,500 going to the top finisher, $750 to second, and $250 to third.
In addition to the individual race bonus pool, Speedo is providing a $15,000 end-of-the-season bonus to be split if U.S. athletes finish first or second in the series. First place will receive $5,000 and second place will take home $2,500 in both the men's and women's categories.
