Welcome to Curtis Gillett Web Site

Belizean stage and Television Actor:

Noh Matta Wat: Curtis' recent acting project has won him many fans both at home and abroad.  Curtis began his acting career in Belize under the tutelage of Gloria Edwards  when he was a student at Grace Primary School.  HIs first entrance to the stage was his rendition of Louise Bennett's " Mi Bredda" for which he won a gold award.  He continued to perform in plays and doing poetry recitals while at Grace Primary and even after he graduated.

Belizeans began to experience and more so enjoy and appreciate his growth as an actor as he appeared in many plays including:

'One of Our Sons is Missing", " Celebration", "Red Carnations" ,"Run Fi Yu Wife", "Don't Dress For Dinner", "Feminine Justice", "Dear Counsellor" and "Nora Lives". He worked closely with Belize's leading female actor and comedian, Beverly Smith-Lopez and director, Diane Haylock.  They were instumental in honing his growth as an actor.

Always open to the learning experience, Curtis applied to the University of South Florida and earned a B.A. in Theatre Arts.  Again, he blazed the stage in Tampa, Florida as he appeared in "Vinegar Tom" and "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom".  His growth and experience at USF are as a result of his close working ties with Fanni Green, Dr. Patrick Finelli, Chris Steele, Jack Belt, Jeff Norton and Robin Gordon.  But wait; it did not stop there.  As extra, he was in two operas,"Tosca" and "La Traviata" with the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Centre conducted by famed conductor, Anton Copolla and directed by James Lucas.

A comedian, as he is referred to by many, Curtis perfomed in a series of Stand-up comedy shows in Belize and even placed third in the 2000 Belize Natonal Comedy Competition.  There after, he created and produced one of the best bi-weekly Stand-up comedy shows in Belize, "Laugharama".

He now has his sights set on capturing an American audience especially those in Hollywood and as such, has taken some time off from Belize and moved to Los Angeles with the drive and persistency to accomplish his goals.
