November 2, 2009 Peter Cedergren Addresses Current on Community Building - Sunday, November 8
Peter Cedergren is a Boulder therapist and community building
facilitator in the tradition of M. Scott Peck (and his pivotal works, The Different Drum and The Road Less Travelled).
Peter will address our Current group this coming Sunday in facilitated
discussion and an experience of an aspect of community building work as
a preview of our March community building workshop (March 5-7). Please
join us, and tell your friends about this opportunity. The entire FBC
congregation is invited to the workshop and this preview of it, and we
will open the March workshop to people outside of FBC - so we would
love to get the word out early.
The service begins each week at 5:30, and it is preceded by Drum
Circle/Jam Session at 5:15. All are welcome to join us for a free
community meal following the service. Childcare is provided during the
service.
Coffeehouse Chat - BYOB (Bring Your Own Brain) - Monday, November 9
Our next BYOB (Bring Your Own Brain) Coffeehouse discussion is
scheduled for Monday, November 9 at 6:00 p.m. at The Bookend Cafe (1115
Pearl Street). Our topic this time is "Does sin exist - and who cares?"
These discussions are available to anyone who wants to take these
controversial bulls by the horns and wrestle with them from a
contemporary perspective. Bookend is kind enough to set some tables
aside in the back of the cafe, where it will be a little quieter, so
let's go have some coffee, tea and snacks - and talk with our mouths
full.
Next Current Leadership Team Meeting - Thursday, November 12
Our next Current Leadership Team meeting is scheduled for Thursday, November 12 at the church, 6:15 p.m.
If you attend Current, you are welcome to participate in these
leadership meetings and contribute to our evaluations and visioning
processes. In this next meeting, we'll discuss our benchmarks/measures
of success for the last quarter, our direction for the near future, a
campus ambassador/internship for marketing to CU, Advent programming,
and updates by our Coordinator and our Music Director. If you are part
of our leadership and have ideas for the agenda, please send them to
Lora Freeman at lora@currentboulder.org.
When's Your Birthday???
We would like to acknowledge your birthday in this newsletter - would you please provide the month and day of your birthday (and the year, if you're really, really proud of it...)? Just send the info to the editor by return email or directly to the editor at lora@currentboulder.org. Thanks! Ryan Connell - Music Available on iTunes!
Ryan Connell has written and co-created a number of compositions
that are now available free from iTunes. Go to the iTunes store and
download podcasts for "Scapeghost," the title of this collection of
works. One of Ryan's pieces is soon to be performed in California, and
we'll keep you posted on dates and exact locations. We celebrate
Ryan's creative, eclectic gifts that bless both our traditional and
contemporary services. We appreciate you, Ryan, and now others will
have the opportunity to do so, as well.
Star Trek - The Movie Viewing RESCHEDULED - NOVEMBER 6
We're planning a viewing of all the Star Trek movies starting this fall, and our second will be on Friday, November 6, starting at 7:30. We'll meet in the Fellowship Hall - come join us for a fun evening together! This time: The Wrath of Khan.
Christmas CDs by Soul Freedom in the Works
Our very own Current band, Soul Freedom, is in the beginning stages of producing a Christmas CD for you, your families and friends. You may order copies in advance of our December 1 lauch, or look for opportunities to purchase these great stocking stuffers in December. This CD is our first fundraising effort in or goal to raise 20% of
our operating expenses for the year. Please support Current and FBC's
contemporary ministries with this creative endeavor we are sure will
bless you and those who enjoy the music of the season.
Would you like Soul Freedom to sing for a particular
nursing home or group who needs holiday cheer? We would like to share
some of our Christmas cheer with folks, so please contact Ryan Connell
to schedule our performances for some special people this season...

Just a reminder that our website is www.CurrentBoulder.org. Check it out for the latest events and blog entries.
PRAYER CORNER
Lora has had some additional work come in and is still in
need of more work for the next few months. Please keep her and Isaac
in your prayers through this work transition.
The growth of Current's ministry is very exciting and needs your
prayers for success as we make significant strides to bring in and
retain new people.
Gratitude: for the new ministerial candidate and his wife who are
expected to candidate at FBC in November. We look forward to their
arrival and to possibly having our new minister soon!
