WELCOME!For nearly 25 years, the Clarion University-Riverview Intermediate Unit Honors Band Festival has brought together young instrumentalists throughout the 16 school districts within the Riverview Intermediate Unit to share their musical talents with one another and with our community.
The mission of the of the Festival is four-fold: - Promote and foster musical excellence throughout the Riverview Intermediate Unit
- Reward excellence in musical achievement
- Provide incentive for additional musical preparation and study
- Provide musical opportunities for talented instrumentalists beyond what is available in each school district
The Department of Music at Clarion University is very grateful to have as its collaborative partners for the Festival the Riverview Intermediate Unit, which financially supports the Festival and promotes excellence in the arts and education throughout the intermediate unit, and all16 school districts and their band directors who assist in the selection of the Honors Band Festival attendees and who work tirelessly on behalf of their students to prepare them for the Festival. Without the continued support of our partners, the Honors Band Festival would not be possible. GENERAL INFORMATION- By audition only
- Must agree to abide by all CU-RIU Honors Band Festival policies
- Eligibility - Grade 7-12 (Must be active member of high school band)
- Audition fee $6.00 / instrument (non-refundable). Registration fee must be paid prior to audition and must be received by October 30, 2009. Checks payable to “Riverview Intermediate Unit”
- Students auditioning on more than one instrument must complete a separate application and submit a separate audition fee for each instrument
- No early, late, or taped auditions
- Deadline for applications: Friday, October 30, 2009
- Festival Membership Auditions: Friday, November 6, 2009; 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
- Chair Placement Auditions: Saturday, December 5, 2009; 9:00 a.m. (morning of first rehearsal)

- Audition PreparationWorkshop - Clarion University's Department of Music will sponsor a free Honors Band Audition Preparation workshop on Thursday, October 22, 2009 between 4-8 p.m.
