Curiouser-Curiouser (Sept. 18-20 / 2009)
It began with the tea

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY COME AND ENJOY! Bonfire, bands, mime,  whistle playing and other curiouse activities.

It began with the tea. There were indeed a queer-looking party that assembled on the bank !!

Curiouser and curiouser...........

The festival is all about anything not normal,an intimate gathering for only 500 people.

The site is embedded in the hills of Devon over looked by one of the oldest castles around.

A campfire will be lit as soon as it starts to get dark round which you can enjoy whistle playing, a spontaneous acoustic folk group and a few local stalls, a mixture of unique local produce.

A weekend devoted to exceptional music from Friday at 6 until Sunday morning.
The two headliners include Benny Guitar Carr and The Hot Rats, who are blues/roots/psychaedelic and Melodica Melody and Me, who are folk/roots, before which there is a line up of many other local bands and acts of similar music style, with their own individual contributions.

The music will be played in a three sided marquee where you can either dance or sit out side in the open courtyard or in the adjoining chill out tent where there will be a dressing up draw and a curious magician to keep you all guessing. There will be an Alice in Wonderland style corqay game for anyone wishing to play, amongst stilt walkers.

Saturday breakfast will be to poetry, an acoustic guitar and ....

The highlight of the festival.... Tom Hodgkinson a British writer and editor of The Idler and writer of the International best seller 'How To Be Idle'. Tom will be giving a talk on "The praise of Idlness from the Taoists to Lennon with musical accompaniment".

This will be followed by 7 bands playing a mixture of folk/roots/blues music.

As the evening sets in, when the bands are winding up you will be delighted with 6 Djs that’ll keep you moving until 3 Sunday morning when the bonfire will be well stocked and an invite to anyone wishing to have a play.

There will be plenty of food served by the Red Wizard Café from a little cottage perched on one side of the valley. From this spot you can enjoy your food and over look the whole site and its curious happenings.

Across from the little cottage there is an old stone mill with a coal fire inviting you into the bar, who will be serving alcohol from Friday at 6pm – 2am and Sunday at 12pm- Sunday 3 am.

On Sunday the festival will draw to a stop food will still be served throughout the day or for those wanting to venture out of the festival site there is a small café situated opposite the castle only 5 minutes walk away where you will be able to find anything from traditional Devon Cream Teas to Sandwiches and cooked meals.
