THE CULTURE OF CONFLICT
AN INTERDISCIPLINARY, UNDERGRADUATE CONFERENCE
Culture of Conflict Home | Student scholars are invited to participate in "The Culture of Conflict," Macon State’s first undergraduate, interdisciplinary conference, which is scheduled for April 3 and April 4. Aiming to create a nurturing environment in which students can share their scholarly and creative work with peers, the conference will also include two very special guest speakers. The evening of April 3rd will feature a reading by poet Kelly Cherry, and on Saturday April 4th, historian and cultural critic Jelani Cobb will offer the keynote address. Undergraduate students enrolled at any University System of Georgia institution, Mercer University, or Wesleyan College are welcome to participate by submitting research papers or creative writing on the subject of conflict. Topics may include but are not limited to: identity conflict; race relations;the self vs. society; family discord; class warfare; political battles; gender wars; global clashes; religious strife; national conflict; military engagement. The conference is sponsored by the School of Arts and Sciences and the Macon State College Foundation, in collaboration with the English Studies Organization and the History Student Organization. |
