Friends of Scouting

What is Friends of Scouting?
Friends of Scouting is the annual campaign where the Cimarron Council asks Scouting families, businesses and civic-minded citizens to support our mission of providing the Scouting program to young people in Northern Oklahoma.

Why should I give to Friends of Scouting?
Friends of Scouting provides the money needed to operate the Cimarron Council's Scouting camps, programs and facilities for a calendar year. These camping and training facilities are the "outdoor classrooms" in which Scouts have fun, learn leadership skills and develop into better young men and women. The Cimarron Council spends approximately $250 per Scout each year to deliver these benefits and much more.

I already paid my child's registration and his unit collects annual dues. Haven't I already supported Scouting?

The dues that you pay to Pack 3842 covers your Scouts registration fee that goes directly to the National Office of the Boy Scouts of America. It also pays for Boy's Life magazine, his handbook, neckerchief and slide. None of that money helps the Cimarron Council pay for:
  • Maintaining and staffing the council's 3 camping properties
  • Training adult volunteer leaders in youth protection
  • Providing programs like Cub Scout Day Camp, Cub Scout Resident Camp, Boy Scout Summer Camp and Spook-O-Ree
When is Friends of Scouting?
Annually, the Friends of Scouting Chair will present to our Pack. At that time, you are encouraged to support Friends of Scouting. The presentation will usually happen at the March meeting.

100% Participation
Our Pack's goal is to have 100% participation in the Friends of Scouting campaign. We ask that each family complete the card, whether or not they pledge or donate. If the Pack has 100% participation (card completion), then our cloth rank badges for the next year or free and we will be eligible for other benefits from the Council.
