The Wolf Cub Scout program is for boys who have completed first grade (or are age 8). After earning the Bobcat badge, a boy may earn the Wolf badge by completing 12 achievements involving simple physical and mental skills. Often, den meeting activities enable the Wolf Cub Scouts to complete requirements toward an award or rank. The Denners and Assistant Den Leaders lead Opening and Closing flag ceremonies and help with setup and cleanup. Bobcat Rank The first rank that every boy must earn when entering the Cub Scouting Program is the Bobcat rank. After a Scout earns the Bobcat Rank, he can begin to work on his Wolf Rank. Arrow Points Scouts can work on Achievements toward their Wolf Rank, or they may work on Electives towards Arrow Points. A Scout can not be presented his Arrow Points until after he has received his Rank. A Scout will earn a Gold Arrow Point for the first 10 Electives completed, and a Silver Arrow Point for each additional ten Electives completed. Progress Toward Ranks The Scout doesn't have to wait until he completes his entire Wolf Rank before being recognized for his work. As a Wolf, when he completes any three achievements, his Den Leader will present the Progress Toward Ranks patch to him. It's a diamond with a leather (or plastic) thong attached and a gold bead attached to one end. It is worn on the button of the right shirt pocket. Each time the Scout completes three achievements he will receive another gold bead. After he earns his fourth gold bead, he will receive his Wolf Rank at a Pack meeting. Scouts will earn red beads as they work toward their Bear Rank and may continue to wear the emblem after the Wolf and Bear Ranks are earned until they become Webelos Scouts. The Progress Toward Ranks is worn suspended from the right pocket flap button during the Wolf and Bear years. Wolf Rank It is the goal of the Pack for Scouts to complete their requirements to earn their current rank by the February Blue and Gold. However, rank completion is not required and Scouts have until the end of the school year to complete their rank requirements. Belt Loops and Pins Wolf Cub Scouts can complete and repeat Belt Loops and Pins at any time. Denner Responsibilities The Cub Scout who is serving as the Denner for the month is responsible for
