The Arrow of Light Den is comprised of fifth graders who are working to earn the Webelos Badge and Arrow of Light Award. Shorter Webelos Scout Programs are available for Webelos who start in fifth grade to earn their Arrow of Light in as little as six months. Contact the WEBELOS II Den Leaders Activity Badges Webelos Activity Badges are colorful metal emblems (pins) that are pinned to the Webelos Colors. The Activity Badges form the basis of the 15- or 18-month-long Webelos Scout Program which prepares Webelos Scouts to bridge into a Boy Scout troop. Requirements may be worked on during the Webelos den meetings and at home and with the help of the Scout's family. The requirements are either completed during the den meetings or at home with the den leader's approval. Projects are then brought to meetings to share as well as to be approved by the Webelos Den Leader or Activity Badge Counselor. A pin is awarded upon completion of the requirements at the next Pack meeting. Webelos Colors The Webelos Colors is a yellow, red, and green emblem onto which the Webelos Activity Badges may be pinned. It is worn on the right sleeve immediately below and touching the U.S. flag if no Patrol patch is worn (covering the Den and Quality Unit insignia). If a Den emblem is worn, the colors are pinned under and touching the Den emblem Patch. Scouts will be presented with the Webelos Colors when they earn their first Webelos Activity Badge at a Pack meeting. Arrow of Light The Arrow of Light is the highest award a Cub Scout can earn. It is the goal of the Pack for Scouts to complete their requirements for the Arrow of Light by the March meeting. However, completion is not required and Scouts have until the end of the school year to complete their requirements for the Arrow of Light. Belt Loops and Pins Webelos Cub Scouts can complete and repeat Belt Loops and Pins at any time. Camping Arrow of Light dens are encouraged to have several overnight campouts each year. These campouts are parent-son events, under the direction of the den leader. At the den overnight campout, the den leader may be assisted by the assistant den leader and the den chief. Sometimes, additional leadership from a Boy Scout troop may join you. Arrow of Lights dens are also encouraged to participate in joint overnight campouts with a Boy Scout troop. However, a parent or guardian of each Scout should still attend. Honor Arrow Our Pack has a tradition of awarding the Honor Arrow to Scouts who earn the Arrow of Light. A guide to painting the Honor Arrow can be found here. Crossing Over After your Scout earns the Arrow of Light, he may participate in a cross over ceremony. This ceremony represents the culmination of Cub Scouting and his completion of the program. The ceremony also represents his readiness to join a Boy Scout Troop and work the Trail to Eagle. Often times, a member of the Troop that the Webelos will be joining is present to welcome the Webelos Scout into the new Troop. At this point, the Cub Scout is transitioned and considered to be a member of his new Boy Scout Troop. The goal of Pack 3842 is to transition Webelos Scouts during March Pack meeting. This will allow the Webelos opportunities to camp with the Troop, and for the family to begin to prepare for Boy Scout Summer Camp, with plenty of time to save as needed.
