Hello, my name is Cubby. You might call me the Pack Mascot. I get to visit each Den and share exciting adventures with the Cub Scouts. Every now and then I will share with you some of my adventures. Cub Scouting is a lot of fun, and I am so happy to get to be a part of it. I hope that you are excited to be a part of Cub Scouting and I can't wait to go on an adventure with you. February 2012
This month I got to hang out with the Bear Den! Our first stop was the Blue and Gold Banquet. I had an awesome time! There was cupcakes and ice cream with all the toppings you could ever want - gummy worms, whipped cream, chocolate and more. So many Scouts earned their ranks and the Webelos earned their Arrow of Light! The Insect Adventure came and brought all kinds of creepy crawly bugs for the Scouts to see. The even brought some that they could eat! When we were together as a Den I got to help them finish their Whittling Chip. They did a great job and no one got cut, even when they made their carving from wood. The Whittling Chip is a big deal because the Scouts get to carry a knife after they earn it. They were all very excited and we got to take a picture with their cards. At our next meeting together they earned their Photography Belt Loop. I must say I was very impressed with some of their photography skills and they took some really neat photo's. I enjoyed my time with the Bear Den and am sad to see out time together come to an end. I can't wait for my next adventure to start! June 2011 Over the summer I stay with the Cubmaster and miss my Scouting friends. I sneaked out with the Cubmaster to check on the Scouts at the Stillwater Day Camp. We had lots of Scouts attend and they were having a blast! They got to play water baseball, shoot bb guns and archery. We watched them at the closing campfire and we had one Scout win an award for being the loudest Scout in camp! The Scouts earned 9 belt loops and 3 pins a piece! February 2011 This month I was with the Bear Den. We got to go to the Stillwater Public Library and learn all about books. The Bears all finished their Bear Rank and will they will be awarded at the Blue and Gold Banquet. This year, we are having cake and ice cream to celebrate Scouting 101st birthday! I love cake and ice cream and can not wait. November 2010 During November I got to hang out with the Wolf Den. I love the fire trucks and watching the lights flash, and I got to join the Scouts as we toured Station 3 of the Stillwater Fire Department. It was awesome!! At the Pack meeting we are going to plant a Centennial Tree at Richmond Elementary, I can't wait to be part of something that the Scouts kids and maybe their grandkids will be able to see! September 2010 This month I was with the Webelos II, or Arrow of Light, Scouts. I helped them with learning the Boy Scout Motto, Slogan and Law. They have to learn this in order to earn their Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouting. We worked on a few activity awards as well. When I first got to the Den, the Scouts decided that they wanted to have a staring contest. Guess who won? April 2010 I loved hanging out with the Bears this month! We got to hang out at the library and we checked out some really cool books! I love reading, especially Boys Life magazine! We also did a orienteering course which is where you get to use a map and compass to get around town. I thought I would get lost, but our Den Leader did a great job of teaching us our new skill and helping us through the course. I can't wait for this summer and some of the many adventures I will be going on with the Pack. I will be sure to write back and share with you our adventures. December 2009 WOW!! Tiger Cubs sure do a lot of cool things. This month I went on a night time nature hike, helped perform a flag retirement ceremony, rode in the Stillwater Christmas parade, learned about cool places in Stillwater and how to find them on a map, played "Tell It Like It Isn't" and more. We sang songs like "I've Got That Tiger Cub Spirit" and visited the Stillwater Police Station. I even got to sit in the patrol car!! I made a new friend, Brownie, and the Scouts and I sang Christmas Carol's at the Sterling House. October 2009 I spent time with the Webelos of Den 4 this month. I was a little nervous when we went through uniform inspection, but I passed with flying colors! The Webelos are working on their outdoorsman pin and we learned the Leave No Trace Principals, how to tie knots, whip and fuse the ends of ropes and made our own tent. I am ready to go camping after learning about the outdoors and what to do in the front country. Do you like camping? March 2007 This month I was with Den 8. Those Tiger Cubs know how to have fun! We sang together, learned how to sew a button and even made a paper flute. Playing our flutes was a lot of fun. What is your favorite instrument? December 2006 This month I spent time with the Tiger Den, Den 9. At the November Pack meeting we sung songs together and had a lot of fun. I always have a good time at our Pack meetings. This month we got to ride in the Stillwater Christmas Parade! It was cold but I had a lot of fun. We also went to the Washington Irving Trail Museum. It is always fun hanging out with the Tigers and going on their Go See Its with them. Do you like going on field trips? October 2006 This month I was with the Webelos Den. We went to OSU and toured the Food and Ag Products center and we made quiz boards for the Penny Bazaar. I can't wait for the Bazaar. I have been doing chores around the house and saving up to play lots of games. August 2006 I went to a Pack picnic this month! There were 120 Scouts there!! This is going to be a fun year and I can not wait to share new adventures with our Dens. During our picnic some Boy Scouts came and played games with us. We also ate our favorite picnic foods. Do you like to eat on picnics? March 2006 This month I got to hang out with the Bear Den, Den 6. We made pinatas out of paper mache. Pinatas are brightly colored and you can put candy in them. That was fun, I can't wait to show my friends the pinata that I made and share my candy. January and February 2006 Wow, I spent two months with the Webelos of Den 2! We did first aid training, made leather coin purses and participated in the Pinewood Derby!! The cars that the Scouts make are super fast and super cool. One car was even made to look like a yellow pencil! Wow! Cub Scouting is really fun October 2004 I am having a lot of fun this month. Last week I got to see the police station and this week we built an awesome catapult! Catapults throw objects great distances. In ancient times they launched rocks, now we launch ping pong balls. We had a lot of fun and even put up tents with the Webelos. Cub Scouting is lots of fun. October 2004 This month I spent time with the Wolf Den. We went to the Stillwater Police Department and got to see a real live police car! We had a blast at the police station and I can not wait to go somewhere again. |
