These are the Den Duties assigned to each Den during Pack meetings. Please talk with your Den Leader about specific duties assigned to you. A brief explanation of the duty is below.
Set-Up and Gathering Activity Den: This Den will help the Cubmaster set up the room. You should arrive 30 minutes early for this duty. This Den will be responsible for conducting a gathering activity. The gathering activity should begin 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the meeting. Keep in mind that good gathering activities are age appropriate, keep the boys' interest, are not complicated, are not mandatory and can be terminated at any point.Gathering activities can be games, arts or crafts. Opening Den: Use all of your Den members in the color guard and make sure their uniforms are in good order. Prior to the Pack meeting, have your Den practice the flag ceremony. The Den will post the American, Oklahoma and Pack flags. How the Den will post the flags is up to the Den. The Den should arrive 15 minutes early and be in place to start the meeting on time. The Den that is responsible for the opening will be the Den who is presented Cubby. Song / Skit Den: Have your Den select a song or skit and practice it at Den meetings. All the better if you can follow the monthly Character Connection. Ideas can be found in the Program Helps Book or Baloo's Bugle. It is a good idea to involve the audience, but it is not required. If it does involve the audience, be sure to run through the song once to "teach" it to the Pack. You may use words printed large on boards for the audience to follow or you may pass out sheets with song lyrics. Pack favorites that all Scouts should know can be found in our songbook Closing Den: Use all of your Den members in the color guard and make sure their uniforms are in good order. Prior to the Pack meeting, have your Den practice the flag ceremony. You are welcome to do any type of closing that you wish and are encouraged to be creative. Clean-up Den: Have all of your Den families be prepared to stay 15 to 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Pack to help clean-up. This includes cleaning and putting tables away, disposing of garbage, sweeping the entire cafeteria and making sure everything is left the way it was found. The use of Richmond Elementary for Scout events is a privilege and not a right. In order to maintain that privilege, we will leave the cafeteria in better condition than how we found it. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
