Since 2001, 102 religious emblems have been earned by Cub Scouts at St Michael Parish!
Each year about 50,000 scouts earn Scouting’s highest rank : Eagle Scout. However, only about 25,000 scouts earn the Parvuli Dei or Light of Christ medals each year.
| Calendar of Events Overnight with the Nailers is February 13. Scouts and parents sleep over in the Arena meeting room after the game. In the past, they have had inflatable games, skating, games and pizza for the overnight. Cost of overnight is $10 per person, which includes a game ticket. If you just want to go to the game, you can get a ticket for $8. You can send the money with a note telling me how many overnight and how many game tickets. If you can’t come with your son, please designate an adult who will be staying to be in charge of your son for this event. Scout Sunday is February 14 (yes, the morning after the overnight). We will celebrate Scout Sunday by attending 9:00 AM Mass at St Michaels (our charter organization). Scouts will sit in reserved pews and will process in at the beginning of Mass. I need volunteers for greeters and gift bearers. Pancake Breakfast- a new event, we will work with Troop 5 (the older Boy Scouts) to host a pancake breakfast after 9 AM and 11 AM Masses on Sunday Feb 14. This will be a fundraiser as well as a chance to thank St Mikes for supporting our scouting program. We will need volunteers for cooking, serving, cleaning up, etc. Tickets are just $5 for the breakfast and I will be sending a few to everyone as soon as I get them. Finally, Our Blue/Gold Celebration will be on Feb 21. This is the annual celebration of Cub Scouts birthday, and we will be holding our Cake Auction again this year. Each Cub scout will bring an undecorated cake to the meeting and will decorate it according to the “secret theme” announced at the meeting. After we eat dinner, the cakes will be auctioned to the highest bidder. This has been big fun in the past and the scouts have shown great creativity.
Highlights this year include: * "Welcome Back" campfire * Raingutter Regatta * A spring trip plus all of the other fun stuff like the Pinewood Derby, Blue Gold Birthday cakes, and Crossover Camping. |
