Co. Connecticut Technology Education Leadership Council (CTELC) About Us Since 1951 Connecticut, technology education teachers have come together five times a year at different sites across the state to experience first hand the real world application of technology. During the past 58 years, the CTELC has met onboard nuclear submarines, at science centers and nautical museums. Members have visited amusement parks to meet with ride engineers, factories to discover the technology behind jet engines, graphic production plants to see unique labeling deign and production, radio and television broadcast facilities and schools that offer unique educational programming. The CTELC has even met at a regional mall to learn about the technology behind designing building and operating a multimillion-dollar retail facility.
Benefits to members include and opportunity to: · share ideas · communicate with each other on the status of district level technology education programs · develop cooperative solutions to mutual problems · develop new and innovative curriculum directions · broaden the instructional perspective of the technology education leadership · further the cause of technology education
Membership in the organization is open to any technology education professional. Before each meeting, members are mailed a postage paid RSVP post card and a flyer describing the meetings location and agenda. Members are encouraged to bring guests including students enrolled in our Connecticut Technology Education and Engineering teacher preparation program. Following the formal program an update of technology education related activities, grant and professional development opportunities, legislative issues and general items of interest to the membership. During this portion of the meeting representatives from other technology education, related associations such as TSA or ITEA have the opportunity to provide informational updates.
Each June CTELC members are invited to share their suggestions for future meeting sites. As part of the leadership development aspect of this organization, individual members take responsibility for contacting potential sites, arranging all logistics of the meeting from onsite registration to dinner planning. Historically the meetings ended on or before 8:00PM. The reason for this was that 58 years ago the majority of participants took trains to the meetings and the last trains of the evening departed around that hour.
