After years of apartment living, Andrea and I purchased our first house in May, 2008. Its a 1949 dormered cape with a 1/2 acre of land in a great little town. Its so much more than we ever could have imagined for our first home and we feel incredibly blessed!
Please excuse the bare walls, windows, and multitude of boxes. With the upcoming wedding, very little decorating/unpacking has happened, so we'll call this the "preliminary" bio :)
Lets start with my favorite room in the entire house - the kitchen!
That 5 burner gas stove gets lots of love :)
Next to the kitchen is my second favorite room, the formal dining room:
Those peonies are the first of the season from our garden! (which is in desprate need of weeding before any pictures can be shared)
Andrea's mom made and painted this platter before she passed away. It matches the colors of the dining room perfectly. (it looks tiny in this pic, but its actually a nice big accent piece in the room)
Hi, my name's Elise and I'm a wall words whooore...

Onto the living room:
This hutch is a family piece that we've had in storage for years - Andrea is thrilled we now have the
space for it :) It looks bare now, but its awaiting china from the wedding.
Then its into the hallway (which used to be bright, BRIGHT orange - yuck, who does that??):
And I promise this is the last place in my house where you will see wall lettering.
Full bath (which is just about the size of our first apartment...)
Monogram towels - how cute are we??
ps - got 'em on the cheap at bb&b
Buddha was left with the house and A was completely freaked out at the idea of throwing him away, so I got some bamboo and went with it :)
My office/future guest room:
not too much goin on in here yet...
Upstairs we go....(this was also the hideous orange before we painted)
I'm still searching for somthing to dress up these walls.
Upstairs half bath:
Guest Bedroom:
We're not doing much in here because we're hoping to make it into a nursery/child's room in the near future.
Just for fun, I made up an idea board for said potential nursery :)
this botb thing is seriously an illness...
Cute, right??
Moving right along.....
Master Bedroom:
We went for cool grey/blue walls (the wall behind the bed is a shade darker) for a sleepy, relaxing feel.
I'm working on making a headboard to dress up the bed a bit.
Our beloved hope chest. This was a gift from Andrea's father to Andrea's mother on their wedding day. Its since been passed down to us and we plan to do the same w/ our children.
To come: garden/yard, and lots of decorating!
