Dear friends!
We had a fabulous day at Kleinburg Golf Club. The showers were promised but never materialized, the sun was shining, the temperature just right A perfect day for a golf game.
This time we had four groups playing. There was a bit of a confusion at the end when the prizes were awarded. My apologies for that.
Here are the proper winners from our last tournament:
Longest Drive: Nathalie Pipenko
Closest the The Pin:
2 White Michael Baloun
5 White No winner
6 Red Michael Baloun
8 Red Jana Blackmore
At the end of our game we had a putting contest, in the final, one member of each group competed and the winner was:
Putting Contest:
Daniel (The Tapper) Sulan
Good time was had by all, everyone is looking forward to our August 22/2009 game.
It will be west of Toronto, Daniel Sulan will organize it and we all look forward to Marie's and Daniel's well known hospitality as the post tournament gathering will be in their lovely home.
Golfu zdar!.......Jana

Hello all my golfing friends, I contacted the Kleinburg GC. Before noon $64.76 plus the OBLIGATORY cart $15.04. After noon $53 walking and $68 riding. Plus the taxes, of course. A nice man at Kleinburg GC, they are not fussy about cancellations, or as he put it: You are calling me because you want to play, not to cancel. If you can't play, you just can't. So we have 20 spots reserved, from 12:00 on. I think the price is good, everyone who played the course before knows it is a nice one. Do let me know ASAP if you are going to play. I shall try to accommodate your wishes re: golfing partners. Awaiting your answer at janablackmore@yahoo.com GOLFU ZDAR! TTFN...........Jana |

II. CSWGA tournament was held on Saturday June 20, 2009 at Westview Golf Club in Aurora. Despite unfavorable golfing conditions 5 members (Nathalie Pipenko, Karel Vetrovsky - event director, Dano Sulan, Karol Andrassy and Robo Lasak), plucked up the courage and showed up for the tournament. After 30 min of heads scratching 2 groups (Nathalie, Karel and Dano, Karol and Robo) teed-off at 11am in a light rain. Light and heavy raining took turns causing a couple of breaks, forcing to give up after 9 holes at Homestead but enthusiasm to finish up the round won. The dancing in the rain finished by 5pm at Lakeland 9th hole. Karol's 94 from blue tees is remarkable. Spending 6 hours out, soaked and cold, apparently was not enough. Karol, Karel and Robo tested out a new putting contest that is going to be introduced in the III. CSWGA tournament. In short: - Every player, after her/his foursome round, will attempt a 20-40 foot put. - Player who makes that putt in lowest score will advance for the finale along with all other groups winners. Golfu zdar! Robo |

Next CSWGA tournament will be held at the familiar Westview Golf Club (www.westviewgolf.ca) on June 20th. The first group tees off at 10:30 a.m. I have made reservation for 5 groups. Therefore, I need a commitment from you whether you are going to participate by Friday, June 12, so that I can adjust it upwards or downwards. Remember, we are on the hook for fees for 5 groups.
Speaking of fees, we will be paying discounted rate of $52pp plus GST. Power carts will be available to anyone who would like to ride for $18/rider plus taxes.
I still have to figure out what format we will be playing. I have studied the Callaway Scoring System, which looks like fun, but requires serious computations … and I have not been able to find a free program for it so far. If you know of one, let me know. We will probably do the closest-to-the-pin and longest-drive events.
