Good Luck on Finals and Congratulations to the Class of 2009

The purpose of the Chicago State University Pre-Pharmacy Club (CSUPPC) is to provide students of  all backgrounds who are interested in or are already pursuing a career in pharmacy, with a network of goal-oriented peers with whom they can share information and concerns.           

CSUPPC will strive to assist students with researching pharmacy schools, prerequisites, admission requirements, admission deadlines, internships, and educate students about the importance of the PCAT and PharmCAS.  Furthermore the CSUPPC will provide an opportunity for students to meet with practicing pharmacist and other health care professionals.

 We have annual events that include Sweetest Day and Valentine's Day STD Prevention, Cold and Flu Prevention, Pharmacy Related Speakers, Breast Cancer Walks, Financial Seminars, October American Pharmacist Activities...

- CSUPPC was started in the fall of 2006.

- CSUPPC has over 25 members.

FDA OKs 1st Drug from Genetically Altered Animals

 A.P.  The Food and Drug Administration made history Friday as it approved the first drug made with materials from genetically engineered animals, clearing the way for a new class of medical therapies.

GTC Biotherapeutics said regulators cleared its drug ATryn, which is manufactured using milk from goats that have been scientifically altered to produce extra antithrombin, a protein that acts as a natural blood thinner.

The drug's approval may be the first step toward new kinds of medications made not from chemicals, but from living organisms altered by scientists...

Cold and Flu Prevention packs were a big success and we will repeat the event the week of November 17, 2008 and December 1, 2008, January 27, 2009, Early February, and March 3, 2009.
