SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR SITE TOURS

1.    Closed toe sturdy shoes are required. High heeled shoes or sandals are not permitted.

2.   In general, tours will not be guided through areas requiring specialized Personal Protective Equipment, (PPE).  In special cases which are pre-approved and arranged by the Operations Manager, a visitor or tour group may pass through these designated areas only if appropriate PPE is worn.

3.   As the tour progresses, the tour guide may point out safety signs and give explanations on why theses safety signs are in place and important.  Pay particular attention to these signs.

4.   Be cautious around stairs and steps.  They are generally well marked but keep eyes open for wet or uneven surfaces and always watch your step.

5.   Be careful of any loose items in pockets.  Make sure to remove or secure these items before the tour.

6.   Always be careful on wet walking surfaces; they can be slippery.

7.   Use handrails whenever necessary, but always keep hands off anything which is unnecessary to touch.

8.   Only walk on designated walking surfaces.  Stay well away from restricted areas.

9.   Absolutely no horseplay or running will be tolerated while on site.  Students that display this type of behavior will be escorted off the tour.

10. All participants will be asked that they wash their hands before leaving the facility.
