What the Law Society Offers...
The Law Society offers a variety of events, programming, and informational resources to its members. The Law Society offers its members and the community a diverse set of opportunities and resources. Not only do we have a large and varied library of law school and LSAT prep books available for free to our members, but we also host the Annual Law Forum and publish the yearly Undergraduate Law Journal, both of which are open to CSULB students and the community. Additionally, the Law Society awards scholarships every year to outstanding members, and we have an extensive database of outside resources for other scholarships, internships and job opportunities.
Speaker Series Each semester, the Law Society hosts a number of speakers and guest from the legal field who come to share with us their knowledge and insights into the legal profession and the pursuit of a legal education. In the past we have hosted judges, attorneys of various fields, law school admissions representatives, pre-law advisors, and professors teaching pre-law courses at Long Beach State. Law School Visits Every semester the Law Society also organizes campus visits to law schools in the greater Los Angeles area. These visits range from full-on tours, self-directed walk-arounds, or even when we are lucky, being able to sit in a law school class. In the past we have visited the likes of UCLA, USC, USD, Pepperdine, Loyola, Southwestern, Chapman, Western State, and number of other schools. ASI Law Week The Law Society participates in the planning and hosting of the annual Law Week, which is cosponsored with the Associated Students, Incorporated and other on-campus organizations. Law Week is open to the larger campus and includes notable speakers, and information for students interested in law school. | Scholarships and Recognition Every semester the Law Society allocates an amount of its dues to be awarded in recognition of outstanding members. In addition to these scholarship opportunities, the Law Society awards a number of recognition awards during the conclusion of the Fall and Spring semesters. The awards of recognition fall into a number of categories and include awards for outstanding faculty who teach pre-law courses.
Law School and LSAT Prep Library The Law Society maintains a small, but growing library of LSAT prep books and Law School admissions material that is free for the use of members. These materials can be checked out and viewed by consulting the Executive Board via email or during meetings.
Peer Advising and Resources Being part of the Law Society means that you will be surrounded by like-minded people with identical educational goals. Many members are in various stages of planning to go to law school, and they will be able to aid you with advice in planning and preparing for the LSAT. The Law Society has also compiled a large database of online resources to aid you in prepping for your endeavors. |
