See you out front at 7:45 on Monday morning!

Thank you to Claudia, Kelsey Lindsay, Owen, and Ethan E. for your service last week.

Student of the Week:   Thank you, Eric!  Your insight and connections between topics is brilliant! Thank you, Owen, you sense of humor is keen and your smile contagious! Thank you also to Nick for your focused and attentive behavior.  You actively model listening to and following directions.

Marine Science Institute  Field Trip:  We are ready to go! Students must be at school by 11:00 ready to leave!  Ms. Cary and Ms. Williams will be at school at 8:00 for any  Thank you to the following families volunteering to drive:  Eisenhart, Schilling, McElroy, Lyle, Hakanson, Armeniakos, Miller, Rhoads, Delman, Schirle, Cabral, Osumi, Mayes.  We have tried to organize students in carpool groups according to the locations of homes.  Drivers will contact you to let you know where your child will be dropped off  . . . many times this will be the local school by your home!  We get off the boat at 5:00, eat pizza and should be on the road around 5:30ish.

All people, chaperones and students need to wear closed toe shoes on the boat.  Sunscreen, hats and a healthy snack help to make this outing pleasurable!  If you know your child gets motion sickness, please let us know in advance.  Last year we had very choppy water and many “green” fifth graders!

The Talk:  Thank you to Mrs. Baker!  We talked with both the boys and girls, separately, last week about puberty.  Hopefully, you have had a chance to ask your child about this discussion

Science Section: Students have been working on their final science projects: an educational health product addressing nutrition, fitness, drug-free lifestyle, media literacy (and tricks), hygiene, and resources/support.  We’ve looked at a variety of educational media forms trying to “read” the messages concerning health.  Students need to pick an audience and create an educational product that addresses all areas of a healthy lifestyle.  These projects are due on OR BEFORE Next Tuesday, June 8th.  Late WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
