The contributions of your donations are vital to the continuation of our camp. I hope you feel the excitement on the student's faces and how YOU made this possible. The way that the Garrett Delgado Major League Soccer camp, located at Bennett-Kew Elementary, is comprised of: 8 semi-professional coaches from the United Kingdom 100 students in groups of 12-14 so students get individual attention and team building exercises 1 Camp director that assists the coaches when in need of an extra hand The camp takes place 3 hours/day for 5 days These coaches instruct soccer for about 2.5 hours a day Remainder of time used for water breaks and coaches' stories Time during camp is devoted to develop skills in: Dribbling Turning Passing Maintaining Possession Shooting Teamwork Defense Game scenarios After the camp is completed students will receive a "report card" so they can see which areas they improved in. There are many tools like this that help student learn in a positive environment. Because my job as Director is somewhat limited during the camp and most intensive prior to the camp, all my effort is devoted to obtain your donations that are so greatly valued. Every year I ask a selective group of people whom I believe are interested in donating to philanthropic organizations and try to show them that my camp is worthy of their donation. The financing of our camp is dependent on these donations. To entice donors, I hand out a pamphlet that consists of our: Mission Statement: Our vow to keep principles of integrity is displayed in our mission statement. We also depict the fundamental reasons for why the camp was put together. Camp Contract: Our contract with the MLS headquarters to make sure they bring over soccer players over from the United Kingdom. This also sets the price in which we agree to give to the MLS for the coaches. This also helps both sides organized our dates and numbers of campers. Over the past two years we have drawn up the contract information for the next year before the current camp had ended, because of the great success the camp has seen. 2008 camp summary: In 2008, I gave you donors our 2007 summary and this years donors have received the summary of the 2008 camp. This paper shows our standards of how our camp should be run so you know what to expect your money to go to. This also gives a background to the for-profit portion of the camp (not fully associated with my camp as ours' is not for profit). These all help depict the legitimacy so you make sure you money is going to a worthy cause. The other major facet of my job is to go to Bennett-Kew and get all the students excited to play again for this season's camp. over the past few years: Camp flyer: This pamphlet is distributed to the students of Bennett-Kew at the end of their third quarter (sometime around spring break). This helps promote the camp by letting the children have a better understanding of what the camp is about. As all students receive this pamphlet it serves as a reminder to strive to do well in school and send in an application to the best of their abilities. Acceptance letter: After submitting an application, the top 100 students are informed through this acceptance letter. Attached is a request for them to submit $5 and a signature from their parent to make sure that these students show up to the camp. Commencement Letter: The day before the camp begins, students receive a letter to get them excited to participate in the camp and to remind them about the hours and activities of the camp. With a lack of structure in many of these student's homes, schedules and events are often forgoten, and it is our job to constantly reminded about our schedule.
