A Runner's Ally

Concept
I really liked the concept of your website.  As a runner myself, I find that all the ideas run very true and that this will be a great site for other runners to participate in.  This will aid all runners in better understanding their own sport and help them improve as a runner.

Organization
I really like the way you laid out your site.  It is very clear how to navigate from page to page and the home page lays out the content very clearly.  Sub-pages are also organized very well.  everything seems like a table of contents which is very easy to scan across.

Writing
Very good writing style for personas.  The language meets that of middle to advanced runners and should communicate your ideas very well.  You probably will define terms in the near future like Fartleks as runners new the world of running may not know what that is.

Suggestions
For beginners you might want to include information on where to get proper footwear and how often one should change their shoes.   You might want to include this information in how you pick your advertisements.
Maybe make suggestions for runners for shorter distances when site progresives and then maybe for field event.
Runners World also gives great advice for cross training and like information that may be great to pu into this site.
You might want to direct runners to videos of great runs to get them inspired to run or create running groups where runners can find people to join them on runs
Stanford Kite Flying Society

Concept
This is one of the best ideas I have ever heard for a site.  Back in Los Angeles I would always celebrate national kite flying day with my friends by going to the beach and flying kites.  I only wish that I had a site that could tell me information about when people were out there flying kites.

Organization
You have a lot of information on your site yet by your home page no one knows how to find it.  I think most people look off to the left as an after thought to the center.  I checked to see if your site had content on it and I checked twice thinking it was blank to realize you had an abundance of links in the left hand column.

Writing
Your site is very reader friendly.  All words are very well defined and explained.  A lot of your sub-pages are very lengthy and not suitable for scanning.  They are full of detail but maybe some advice from the guest lectures would say that key words should be highlighted and fluff should be eliminated.

Suggestions
I think a great addition to your site would be wind reports so that people could visit your site to see if the wind will pick up in the afternoon or in the next few days.  I don't know if that technology is even possible but it seems that it would be very useful to flyers.
I have also seen awesome pictures of kites and videos of kite fighting.  I think that these pictures and videos would be great additions to your site.
A blog would also create unity and camaraderie amongst local flyers.
A map of local flying spots may give great advice for new flyers or experienced flyers to try a new spot that may yield better wind or a more enjoyable experience.
