I have never seen Camille look anything less than a million bucks, so it didn't seem to make sense for her to go to chemo in anything less than the best! -Katherine Shell Thank you to the following people for their kind help and donations Bradley Arendall, Amy Brown, Wanda Burch, Ashley Cassels, Brynn Chandler, Jean Rose Clawater, Mary Stuart Couch, Hartley Meric Crunk, Valerie Delaune, Natalie Dillree, Mclean Donovan, Sarah Dozier, Callie Ellis, Katie Garrett, Kaylee Hartung, Blair Haws, Laura Hornbuckle, Suzanne Humphries, Megan Hunt, Beth Hunter, Jane Lancaster Mikell, Devon Morten, Russ Edwards, John Mikell, Joel Katz, Marjie Zethraus, Barbara Gustavson, Katie Long, Lindsay Pace, Lauren Peel, Ellen Quinlan, Alexis Richardson, Elizabeth Robinson, Kelley Zwart, and Andrea Parker. For the first part of the effort, please send the scarves (and hats!) to Katherine. First, we will send the scarves directly to Camille, and when she has filled her closet with beautiful scarves, we will donate the scarves in her honor to the American Cancer Society. In the future, Blake and Katherine Shell will work to increase the efforts of this drive in honor of their mother, Kathy. If you have any ideas for the drive please email blakeshell@gmail.com or shell.katherine@gmail.com. Recommendations for donating scarves We will accept any scarf donations, but scarves that are large are the best to send. You can send either cotton or silk scarves, and large, square scarves are recommended. Not all pashminas are large enough, so imagine them wrapped around your own head in order to get an idea of size. We're accepting new and gently used scarves. The American Cancer Society recommends new scarves, but Katherine is contacting hospices and churches to see about scarf donations for gently used scarves. Also, don't worry about wrinkles! Katherine will be sure to steam them before they are sent to Camille. Places to look to find scarves http://www.headcovers.com offers scarves and other head coverings specifically tailored to women undergoing chemotherapy treatments. Check out EBay: they sometimes have great deals on scarves, but you have to be pretty sure that you like what you're ordering. Nordstrom's, J. Crew, Gap, Banana Republic, and Target have reasonably priced scarves. You can find some pretty good deals if you check out their sales! Also, Urban Outfitters has great scarves! Also, please check out the American Cancer Society's information on wearing and buying headscarves. Mail to: Katherine Shell 909 East Broad Street Apartment 435 Athens, Georgia 30601 Or, if in Portland: give to Blake, she will mail them together to Katherine. Questions? Email shell.katherine@gmail.com. Tips for tying scarves: M.D. Anderson has classes that teach women how to tie scarves in interesting ways. The American Cancer Society also offers a Look Good, Feel Better program. Blake has a book on this, so we will add more here soon.
