Hello everyone.. the standings and results are off on here because GOOGLE DOCS sucks..excuse me for that. I will be sending you all my excell standings sheets weekly or twice a week as the tournament nears.
Thanks Carl Good Morning & Happy Friday. Jacy Showers who is in our womens intermediate division and the doubles has moved to Colorado and we will miss her. Lesley is not going to pick up another partner for doubles, so ladies you will just get a bye against them on the schedule. Mara Helmuth is going to take her place in the Singles and she wants to improve her game playing against ladies in the intermediate division. Thanks for stepping into that spot Mara. I will be hearing from Nigel at Below Zero sometime today and I will be sending out an email to let you all know when our first BBQ Cookout will be. Thanks, Carl
**** Attention all mens intermediate players. Guys are dropping like flies. We have lost another player due to an injury. Dave Wegehoff has had to drop out due to a thumb injury. Keith Wood has taken his place on the schedule and will be keeping his results as of today and needs to play the rest of the schedule. His name and information is on the website schedule, so please contact him to play your match when scheduled. Let me know if you have any questions at all. phone number: 513-432-3342 email: kwoodsc@gmail.com
**** Attention Mens Intermediate players: Kevin Robinson has had to drop out due to an ankle injury. Hello everyone..we just had a player named Keith Wood move here to Cincinnati from Atlanta, and just missed out getting in the league. He is looking for players who would like to play and practice during this spring and summer. His contact info is: Ranking (officially 3.0) but I play at 3.5 league level.
Would love to practice/play. Available most evenings and weekends.

I need the practice before the Louisville tournament!
*****ALSO, I am very SORRY to say that Adam Busemeyer broke his ankle during a mens match the other day, and is out of the league in the mens recreational division. You can wish him well at A.Busemeyer@Medpace.com.
***PLEASE REMEMBER that it is the WINNERS responsibility to email me the score of their match at carldinsmore@yahoo.com. Thank you very much!!!!!
Hello Everyone..
The women are kicking the guys butts as far as getting their matches in and talking with each other if they have a schedule conflict. Guys need to get on the ball and start reporting some matches.
The deal to play at Colonial Racquet Club in case the weather is bad is too awesome to pass up. Its only $8 per court for singles and $16 for doubles. SO that is only $4 per person to play indoor. That is per match, NOT per hour. Their phone number is 513-729-3738 to schedule court time, and mention that you are the Cincinnati Rainbow Pride Tennis League.
Jim, the owner, is still offering the incrediable offer of only $125 to become a member for the year.
Thanks Carl * Some comments regarding non-communication and not getting matches in with communications.*
* A special comment from D Gee..."We gals have been communicating fools! Everybody is communicative not too mention cooperative in trying to accommadate my funky work schedule! Thanks to you: Barkley, Weaver, Rea, Boughton, Perry, O'Mally" "Although this hasn't happened to me, I think the person who isn't responding should take a loss." "It's not a problem for me. I think it should just be considered a forfiet. I can't think of another alternative." "I think that if a person does not respond/make communication with their scheduled opponent that they should be removed from league play. And this should happen the first time it happens." "Carl, I believe you said a while back that they would forfeit the match and I think that is fair if opponent doesn’t return your request to play week before or EARLY week of play. I believe you should attempt to contact person via email and phone-person should definitely be able to respond via phone if not email." "The person responsible for not returning the communication shall have his/her game forfeited, the 2nd failed return communication they forfeit themselves from the league for the remainder of the season."
***** HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!!!!!
I already have had two complaints that scheduled opponents are not returning calls or emails. Come on folks, we are all adults. I understand that things come up, illness, work schedule, etc, but as I stated before it is all about communication. I should not be getting calls and emails stating that people are not even making an effort to return calls and or emails. Thanks, Carl
** I see alot of people have played matches up till now, but several still need to play matches by TODAY!, unless I heard of a reason prior to today. It is going to be a nice day today so make every effort to get those matches in. Again, if you are having any problems what so ever, please do not hesitate to email me or call me. As of right now, Sunday morning @10:23 am we have 22 matches that need to be played. Thats out of 53, so not too bad. Lets make every effort to get as many of those matches in that we can today!!! Thanks, Carl.
I Have had a few questions regarding how to play a tie breaker when the set score reaches 6-6. You are going to play what is called a 7 point tie breaker. It is going to be the first person to reach 7 points winning by 2 points. Who ever is next to serve at 6-6 will serve the first point of the tiebreaker and they will serve ONE point from the right court or whats called the Deuce court. Everyone serves two points here on out till someone gets to 7 points winning by two. The second person to serve will serve their first point from the left court, or the ad court, and then the right or deuce court. You do change sides in the tiebreaker after every 6 points. If you win the tiebreaker, than you just won that set 7-6. Who ever did not serve first in the tiebreaker will serve first in the opening of the set if there happens to be one. I hope this helps!!!!! Carl Dinsmore If you would like something you can print and carry in your tennis bag go to http://uppervalleycta.com/howtoplayatiebreak.pdf and you can print that little cheat sheet to carry with you.
****UPDATE!!!!!
**I hope everyone is off to a good start by either already playing their first match or at least having it scheduled. Remember, you have from Monday through to the end of the day on that Sunday to get your match for that week played!!! Please communicate with your fellow league members and opponents. I really do not want to have to get any emails at all this season telling me that people are not scheduling their matches, or that people are too hard to reach in order to simply schedule a match. Unless you are out of town that week, there is really no reason why you can not get a match played in 7 days.
Results are already up and posted on the standings page. Right now it is more of a results page and not standings as of yet. Standings will come after we get a few weeks under our belts.
*** I will be holding a clinic on a upcoming Saturday in May. I am not sure of the site yet. I taught tennis for 5 years back in the 1980's, played in high school and college, and was club champion at was then the Jack Nicklaus Sports Center where they now hold the annual ATP mens tournament and the Womens Open tournament. I have many years of tennis experience and knowledge. The cost of the clinic will be $25.00 and it will consist of 2 hours of group training with a variety of drills. Then there will be a half hour of singles play and a half hour of doubles, for a total of 3 hours. A sack lunch and beverages will be provided. I must have an idea of how many will be attending by Friday May 1, 2009, and by that time I will know where we will be having the clinic. Please email me if you wish to reserve a spot now.
Thanks, and enjoy the league everyone!
** If you ever need me, or have a question, comment or concern, please DO NOT hesitate to contact me either by email or phone.
