Crew 2037 is a newly formed coed Venture crew in the Colonial District of the National Capital Area Boy Scout Council. We are based out of Sport Rock, Alexandria, which allows us the unique experience of being able to rock climb at every meeting. We are both a rock climbing and general high adventure crew. Meetings begin at 7pm with rock climbing and usually include a sit down meeting at about 8:20 for crew discussions about trips and other topics. We are relaxed in our attitude toward uniforms and advancement, allowing the youth to decide for themselves how much advancement they each want to work on as well as what they would like their uniforms to be. Our current goals are to increase our size and go on an overnight trip once every 2 months, and a day trip for the other months. Adult Leaders Almost all of the adult leaders involved in the crew are young adults under the age of 30, with most being involved in Boy Scouts and Venturing as youth. Parents of youth members are also encouraged to get involved with the crew. Jason Minett Jason is the current Crew adviser and has been involved in scouting since Tiger Cubs. He is an Eagle scout, that spent 5 years working at a Boy Scout camp in Northern New Jersey (Mount Allamuchy Scout Reservation) as an aquatics merit badge councilor. He has attended the 1999 World Jamboree in Chili, and been a district committee member for the Colonial District. |
