From the President’s Pen
To the Official Staff, Faculty, Workers, and Messengers of the Baptist Missionary and Educational State Congress of Texas:
We greet you in the Name of Him who lived, died and rose again that we might have eternal life through Jesus Christ, God’s Son.We give thanks to God for safely bringing each of you here to this session as we continue to explore what it means to have “Solidarity with the Savior.”
May we all be blessed to know that through Solidarity with the Savior, we are covered by the Blood of Jesus who is our Savior and Lord, so let our allegiance be to Him.To know Him is to love Him as well as our fellowman.Note!!!Solidarity with the Savior means that we have joy, peace, and eternal salvation.
As we come together this week, please be both prayerful and mindful of the many perils and challenges that we are faced with in the world today, and how great the need is for the world to return to God.The time is now for us to know that good Bible teaching never grow old or stale.In this world, everything goes down except God’s word and God’s training.
We thank God and appreciate Dr. S. C. Nash and the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church family, Dallas, Texas, for their strong efforts in preparation for our arrival and allowing us to convene in their beautiful edifice.Our desires are that all participants would conduct themselves in a Christian manner.
We are delighted that you have come from distances far and near, and thank God for his traveling mercies and bountiful grace on your behalf.We pray that your life will be enriched through the study and activities of the week in such a degree that others can be blessed through you.
Dr. M. F. Brewster

I LOVE TO TELL THE STORY
I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory, Of Jesus and His love;
I love to tell the story - Because I know ‘tis true,
It satisfies my longings- As nothing else can do.
I love to tell the story – More wonderful it seems
Than all the golden fancies - Of all our golden dreams;
I love to tell the story – It did so much for me,
And that is just the reason I tell it now to thee.
I love to tell the story – ‘Tis pleasant to repeat
What seems, each time I tell it, More wonderfully sweet;
I love to tell the story - For some have never heard
The message of salvation- From God’s own holy Word.
I love to tell the story, For those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting - To hear it like the rest;
And when in scenes of glory- I sing the new, new song,
‘Twill be the old, old story - That I have loved so long.
Chorus:
I love to tell the story!
‘Twill be my theme in glory
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.
STAND UP FOR JESUS
Stand up, stand up for Jesus, Ye soldiers of the cross!
Lift high His royal banner – It must not suffer loss.
From vic-t’ry unto vic-t’ry - His army shall he He lead,
Till ev-ry foe is vanquished - And Christ is Lord in-deed.
Stand up, stand up for Jesus, The trumphet call obey;
Forth to the might conflict - In this His glorious day.
Ye that are men now serve Him - A-gainst unnumbered foes;
Let courage rise with danger - And strength to strength oppose.
Stand up, stand up for Jesus, Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you – Ye dare not trust your own
Put on the gospel armor, Each piece put on with prayer;
Where duty calls or danger, Be never wanting there.
Stand up, stand up for Jesus, The strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle – The next, the victor’s song.
To Him that overcometh - A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory shall reign eternally.
MORE ABOUT JESUS
More about Jesus would I know, More of His grace to others show,
More of His saving fullness see, More of His love who died for me.
More about Jesus let me learn, More of His holy will discern;
Spirit of God, my teacher be, Showing the things of Christ to me.
More about Jesus – in His Word, Holding communion with my Lord,
Hearing His voice in ev-‘ry line, Making each faithful saying mine.
More about Jesus on His throne, Riches in glory all His own,
More of His kingdom’s sure increase, More of His coming-Prince of Peace.
Chorus:
More, more about Jesus, More, more about Jesus;
More of His saving fullness see, More of His love who died for me.
STANDING ON THE PROMISES
Standing on the promises of Christ my King, Thro’ eternal ages let his praises ring; Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing, Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises that cannot fail, When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail, By the living word of God I shall prevail, Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord, Bound to Him eternally to love’s strong cord, Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword, Standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises I cannot fall, Listening every moment to the Spirit’s call, Resting in my Saviour, as my all in all, Standing on the promises of God.
Chorus:
Standing, standing,
Standing on the promises of God my Saviour;
Standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
I SURRENDER ALL
All to Jesus I surrender, All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him, In His presence daily live,
All to Jesus I surrender, Humbly at His feet I bow;
Worldly pleasures all forsaken, Take me, Jesus, take me now.
All to Jesus I surrender, Make me Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit – Truly know that Thou art mine.
All to Jesus I surrender, Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power, Let Thy blessings fall on me.
Chorus:
I surrender all, (I surrender all,) I surrender all, (I surrender all,)
All to Thee, my blessed Savior, I surrender all.
NEVER ALONE
I’ve seen the lightning flashing And heard the thunder roll,
I’ve felt sin’s breakers dashing, Which tried to conquer my soul;
I’ve heard the voice of my Savior, He bid me still fight on –
He promised never to leave me, Never to leave me alone.
The world’s fierce winds are blowing – Temptation’s sharp and keen;
I have a peace in knowing- My Savior stands between;
He stands to shield me from danger – When all my friends are gone-
He promised never to leave me, Never to leave me alone.
When in affliction’s valley - I tread the road care,
My Savior helps me carry- The cross so heavy to bear;
Tho all around me is darkness – And earthly joys are flown,
My Savior whispers His promise - Never to leave me alone.
He died on Cal-v’ry’s mountain, For me they pierced His side,
For me He opened that fountain, The crimson, cleansing tide;
For me He’s waiting in glory – Upon His heav’nly throne –
He promised never to leave me, Never to leave me alone.
Chorus:
No, never alone, No, never alone –
He promised never to leave me, Never to leave me alone;
No, never alone, No, never alone –
He promised never to leave me, Never to leave me alone.
IN THE GARDEN
I come to the garden alone
While the dew is still on the roses;
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.
He speaks, and the sound of His voice,
Is so sweet the birds hush their singing;
And the melody that He gave to me
Within my heart is ringing.
I’d stay in the garden with Him
To the night around me be falling;
But He bids me go-thru the voice of woe,
His voice to me is calling.
Chorus:
And He walks with me, and He talks with me,
And He tells me I am His own,
And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.
HIGHER GROUND
I’m pressing on the upward way, New heights I’m gaining ev’ry day;
Still praying as I onward bound, “Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”
My heart has no desire to stay - Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Tho’ some may dwell there these abound, My pray’r, my aim is higher ground.
I want to live above the word, Tho’ Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught a joyful sound, The song of saints on higher ground.
I want to scale the utmost height, And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till heav’n I’ve found, “Lord, lead me on to higher ground.”
