 About me

I graduated (top of the class) from  Catholic University of  Pernambuco, Brazil in 2008 and received the MSc degree in 2011 from Center for Informatics (CIn), Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), both in Computer Science. In 2010, I concluded the Singularity University's Graduate Student Program (GSP10) at NASA Ames Research Park, CA, where I worked with a incredibly talented group of international students on the development of scalable breakthrough technology for solving grand challenges such as poverty, upcycle, and space exploration.

My research interests are: evolutionary computation, dynamic multi-objective optimization, memetic computing, swarm intelligence, cellular genetic algorithms, neural networks, time series forecasting, stochastic simulation, data clustering and quantum-inspired computing.

 Research and Publications

In my MSc research, I studied and developed new mechanisms for guiding the diversity generation process in dynamic evolutionaru multiobjective optimization problems (DEMO). My thesis is titled "Diversity Generation in Dynamic Evolutionary Multiobjective Optimization by Non-Dominance Landscapes".

The Non-Dominance Landscapes (NDLs) concept is based on a density estimation and multivariate order statistics framework on the objective space. Their main purpose is to estimate, for any given population, the probability that an arbitrary solution will be non-dominated if inserted in that population. This turns out to be a useful tool for guiding the insertion of atypical solutions (immigrants) when generating diversity in DEMO problems.

I have published a few works on some of the above topics, which can be found here. Most of the papers have appeared in proceedings of international conferences on the Computational Intelligence (CI) area.
