CARE sponsors a Leadership Conference every year in the fall to high school students in Crawford County. The conference is held at the Wisconsin Lion's Camp in Rosholt, WI. The Fall Leadership Conference trains students to expand their leadership skills, work as a team, and utilize community resources. The conference places a heavy emphasis on volunteering, being an active member of your community, and mentoring younger students. There are many different challenges that students face to work on their leadership skills. The highlight of the conference always seems to be the ropes challenge course, which has students walking on logs 30 feet in the air and climbing the rock wall with their eyes closed. Communication, teamwork, and determination get the students up the wall, across the log, and through the other challenging ropes course elements. C.A.R.E. has sponsored this annual conference every fall since 1989, training more than 1,000 students through the 18 years. The Youth Leadership Committee (YLC) helps plan and implement the conference. | This years leadership conference will be held on October 5th - 7th at the Wisconsin Lion's camp. Students from Prairie du Chien, Seneca, North Crawford, Wauzeka, and Boscobel High Schools are invited to attend. Contact your local school or the CARE office (608) 357-2083, for more information.
