Calling CQ this is KC0CRU, A North Dakota General

Hello and 73's from North Dakota or maybe Idyllwild, CA

IMPORTANT QSL Policies, please click here for information on confirmation with North Dakota. NEWS!  Chris Milford has just joined eQSL although I am not sure as to how I feel about it, I'm joining because of a Ham in Texas who had a booming signal.

Hello there, thanks for answering my call!  My name is Chris Milford, the call is K-C-0-C-R-U: Kilo Charlie Zero Cant Really Understand. :)  Yeah I have been an amateur radio operator  since 1998.  I got interested in Ham Radio after the 1997 Grand Forks/East Grand Forks Flood when I heard of these radio geeks making a difference in the community.  When I saw what they could do with radio I had to join up.

I am a student at the University of North Dakota, Department of Geology I am currently a senior studying meteorite mineralogy.  If you get one of my QSL cards you will see my favorite dinosaur, the Triceratops.  I have a picture on QRZ which shows me posing with "Marsh" the Departmental Triceratops located in our museum inside Leonard Hall.

I'm an active member of the Forx Amateur Radio Club, the SIOUX Amateur Radio club at UND, and soon the Mile High Radio Club in Idyllwild, CA.  I am most interested in making a difference as a ham, so my activities range from Skywarn and ARES to participating in parade communications.

I belong to many science and civic clubs, The Northern Sky Astronomical Society, The North Dakota Rocketry Association, The North Dakota High Altitude Balloon Group, Association of Undergraduate Geologists, life member of the Dakota Space Society, North Dakota Jaycees, Greater Grand Forks Jaycees, and heck even the UND Chess Club.

Professionally, I am one of the senior instructors at Astrocamp, a science camp located in Idyllwild, California where I teach space and physical science classes and leadership challenge courses.  I also hold the title of NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Solar System Ambassador for North Dakota, where I conduct space science outreach education in North Dakota.  I am also in my 2nd year of sitting on the Board of Directors for Dakota Science Center, a hands on science program located in Grand Forks, ND.

My amateur radio activities I enjoy include VHF 2M SSB contesting, 6M SSB contesting, Weak signal detection, Shortwave Listening, Radio Direction Finding, HF contesting, HF working DX, and calling CQ on 20M.  In 3 days I was able to confirm 38 states so I am well on my way to my WAS award.  I enjoy building simple antennas, and working on some crystal AM radios.

I've just finished completing a monoband 20m dipole which tunes up perfectly the first time.  I also have begun building a simple 4 element 2m to use on SSB.  I am interested in different antenna's and odd ones that sound great are what interests me on my QSO's on the radio.

Googlepages kind of stinks! I like this background though.  Alright so back to amateur radio.  I have added myself to eqsl and lotw, right now I like eqsl much better. lotw is hard to use, takes a long time to set up an account with ARRL and not easy to upload logs, but if you love ARRL then your going to like LOTW, bloated and annoying, but I signed up for it too.
