Welcome to the Canadian Prairie Pylon Racing Assocation (CPPRA) website. The CPPRA administers model airplane pylon racing in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The CPPRA is also District 3 in the NMPRA.
The district holds several contests across the prairie provinces in the cities of Calgary, Saskatoon, Edmonton, and Regina. These contests include racing in the Quickie 500 and Quarter Midget classes. Some of our members represent Canada at World Championship events around the world in the FAI F3D and F5D classes .
Check out our contest calendar then come out to see an event. This would be a good opportunity to see what goes on at a contest, meet new people, and see some exciting high speed airplane racing. | What is it like to fly in a Q40 pylon race? Put on your hearing protection and watch this helmet cam video! |

A large group of Canadians attended the Phoenix Q40 Classic event in Phoenix, Arizona, February 25-26, 2012. With 80 pilots from 8 countries registered, the interest in Q40 appears to be strong; this was the largest attendance on record for this event. The Canadians had a great time both on and off the race course. There are some helmut cam and crash videos on YouTube and some vacation/racing pictures on flickr.

A couple of notes from your president as we start thinking about the 2012 racing season.
- The website has been updated for 2012.
- Edmonton and Regina have yet to decide on their contest dates. Edmonton will be avoiding a September date like the plague.
- Your president has been a bit lax on adding the AGM minutes and year-end financial statements; they will be posted soon.
- The CPPRA discussion forum was deleted by the service provider due to lack of use. Everyone must have ignored those "We Miss You" emails.
- The Phoenix Classic contest will see a larger than normal Canadian Invasion happening in Feb 2012.
I have been working with Tom Strom to try and coordinate our racing schedule with other areas in the NMPRA. Here is a list of contests received from Tom. If you're looking to do more racing this season, try to attend some of these. It would a lot of fun to have a large Canadian presence at other contests. We may see some of our friends from down south attending some of our District 3 contests as well. This may be a really great season of racing! - June 2/3, 2012 - Helena, MT Classes: APRA/EF1/?
- June 30/July 1, 2012 - Shelton, WA Classes: APRA/EF1/428/Q40
- July 21/22, 2012 - Spokane, WA Classes: APRA/EF1/?
- August 18/19, 2012 - Shelton, WA Classes: APRA/EF1/428/Q40 North vs. South Shootout
- September 1/2, 2012 - Helena, MT Classes: APRA/EF1/?
- September 15/16, Spokane, WA Classes: APRA/EF1/?
For all you veteran pilots, check out the "Formula 1 Good Old Days" photo gallery on the H&M Racing website. I hope Harold can dig up some more old photos and I'm glad none exist for myself!
