FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER
We were able to accommodate several members who live in various areas around the Metroplex by meeting at different locations for our January happy hours. Pictures can be seen on our Facebook group page. We had a great happy hour at Winewood in Grapevine on January 12. We will join with Linda's group occasionally throughout the year. Boo-Rays was also a big hit and we will meet there occasionally also.
We had a large group gather at First Friday at the Modern Art Museum on January 6. About 20 members and guests met at Angelo’s BBQ on January 20, then boot-scooted over to the Stagecoach Ballroom. Many of us stayed until midnight! I know, hard to believe.
Our first happy hour in February is from 5:30 – 8:00 on February 4 at Ernie’s Seafood Restaurant located at 8206 Bedford-Euless Road, North Richland Hills, TX. We will celebrate the following January/February birthdays and Bill Roach will lead a discussion on Ocean Sailing. Sail on in and join us!
February 3: 5:00 – 8:00. First Friday at the Modern Art Museum located at 3200 Darnell. Kevin Townson Trio. Special cocktail: Love Potion # 9. Free admission and parking . CULTURE WILL NOT KILL YOU. A few of us try to arrive close to 5:00 to save a couple of tables. Often, seating is at a premium. If you are “fashionably late,” you may not be able to sit with us.
February 5: 5:00. Super Bowl Party at Bob P’s house located at N. Broadway. Azle. Bring a little $$ to join in the Super Bowl pot. Ham for sandwiches will be provided. BYOBeverage and a snack to share. Driving Directions: From 199 (Jacksboro Hwy), coming from Lake Worth, exit Stewart/Main St. Right at light onto Main and immediately take another right on Park St. (in front of Exxon station). Continue on Park, which turns into Lakeview in front of junior high school on left. Continue on Lakeview to dead end. Turn left onto Broadway. Sixth house on the right. February 9: 5:00 – 8:00. Happy Hour at Winewood (1265 S. Main [behind Bob’s Chop House] in Grapevine). We will join Linda’s Sailing Adventures as well as Captain Ken Malcomson’s boating group. GOGA is still playing and he is outstanding. Appetizers and drink prices reduced from 4:00-7:00. GOGA plays from 6:00-9:00. Driving Directions: Take the William D. Tate exit as you enter Grapevine on Hwy. 121. Stay on access road to Main. Left on Main. Bob’s is on the right—turn right just past Bob’s and go behind the restaurant. Half price drinks 4:00-7:00.
February 16: 5:30 – 8:00. Happy Hour at R.J.Gator’s located next to the Rave Theater in North East Mall.
February 23: 5:30 – 8:00. Happy Hour at Boo-Ray’s Cajun Restaurant located at 7255 Boat Club Road. Driving Directions: From 820, exit Azle Ave. Go north. Take right on Boat Club Road. Go about two miles. Boo-Rays on left past Sonic. OR Take the Saginaw 287 exit. Left on Bailey Boswell Road. Left on Boat Club Road.
