Cowley Chess Club believes in providing a safe environment where players of all ages can enjoy the game. The club's Child Protection Officer is Heather Lang, who can be contacted on cowley @ lang.org.uk (spaces inserted to avoid spam emails). The club is in the process of arranging enhanced disclosures from the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) for all cabinet (core committee) members, team captains and other volunteers who have regular contact with children, in accordance with the Child Protection Policy. The club also has the following policies, which should be read in conjunction with the Child Protection Policy:
All of these documents can be found in the 'attachments' section below. A 'Guidelines for Away Matches' document was discussed at the AGM on 7th September 2009. It was agreed that Heather Lang would get in touch with contacts made at an Oxfordshire Safeguarding Children Board course for advice, and circulate a new draft to cabinet members and team captains for discussion. Finally, we would like to thank Richmond Junior Chess Club for allowing us to use their Child Protection policy as a starting point for ours. |
