I think it's usual.... when one season begins, we enjoy its perks for a few days or weeks.... and when the novelty wears off, we immediately start thinking of (and looking forward to) the opposite one.... When I'm freezing even wearing 5 layers in the extreme NYC winter, all I want is to go back to shorts and flip-flops.... When summer comes and I'm suffocating while waiting for the subway to arrive (specially at any of the damn F train stops, real life saunas!), all I can think of is how great it would be to have a warm cup of coffee while wearing my favorite coat... Fall has arrived... days are getting shorter... and even though there's beauty around the city (and its parks), I already dream of the moment where the sun will start setting past 7.30pm next spring, instead of so early as now... This is Flippy, my shelter rescue bunny. Did you know that thousands of pet rabbits are left at animal shelters or turned loose to fend for themselves in the wild after their owners tire of the novelty of owning a rabbit? Rabbits make wonderful, loving, entertainining companions, but do require care and time, similar to a dog or cat. Flippy is litter box trained and has the run of the house (after 'rabbit proofing' it). Don't ever buy a rabbit at a pet shop or from a breeder! And always spay or neuter your rabbit!!! Contact one of the many rabbit rescues, look on Petfinder, or at your local humane society or shelter, and save a bunny's life! With good care and proper diet, they can live 8-12 or more years!
