Hansville Speed Table Community Recommendation Process – Summer 2008

 

 

Definitions  

  1. Speed Table Committee-of-the-Whole –committee-of-the-whole comprised of community members interested working on the Speed Table concerns.
  2. Speed Table Working Committees – three separate committees each with 10-30 community volunteers committed to developing and securing broad community support for options that address the speed table concerns and the previously identified community interests. 
                   a.  Light/enhance the existing speed tables Committee.
                   b.  Remove all the speed tables Committee.
                   c.  Construct a cross-connector road between Shorewood and Weaver Roads
                        committee. 
     3.  Community interests – prioritized community interests/values identified and agreed to
          during the May 21 & May 27 community meetings

  

Overarching Committee-of-the-Whole charge

  • Agree on one or two options that address the community interests regarding speed tables in the near-term (5-10 years.)
  • Secure broad community support for and endorsement of the one or two positive recommendations agreed to by the Committee-of-the-Whole; and,
  • Present the community-endorsed course(s) of action regarding the speed tables to the BOCC for consideration/decision by December 31, 2008.

 Process

    1. Clarify, define and understand the community interests identified during May 21 & 27 
        community meetings.
NOTE: The recommendation(s) presented to the Committee-of-the-whole should address all the community interests identified during the May 21 and May 27 meetings.
 
    2. Each working committee meets and develops the committee's goal and workplan.  Ideally each
        workplan and proposal will include details about information needs, action steps, budget     
        (including funding source), timeline and assignments (i.e. responsibility) for completing each  
        action step.
 
    3. Work the workplan; present each working committee’s recommendation to the Committee-of-
        the-Whole. 

 

    4. Committee-of-the-Whole melds the recommendations of the working committees into a
        proposal for consideration by the larger Hansville community.

               a.  The proposal may include more than one option.

               b.  The option(s) offered should meet all of the community interests agreed to during the
                    May 21 and May 27 meetings.
                     
    5.  Committee-of-the-Whole publicizes, presents and secures broad community support and    
        endorsement of the option(s) regarding speed tables.

 

    6.  Committee-of-the-Whole takes the community-endorsed option(s) to the commissioners for
         consideration/decision.
