The Franchise Agreement

Contract by which a domestic company (franchisor) licenses its trade name and/or business system and practices for a fee to an independent company (franchisee) in a foreign market.

Franchising is the practice of using another firm's successful business model. The word 'franchise' is of anglo-french derivation - from franc- meaning free, and is used both as a noun and as a (transitive) verb.

A legal document that binds the Franchisor and the Franchisee together and is signed by both the Franchisor and the Franchisee. The franchise agreement explains what the Franchisor expects from the Franchisee in running their business.

Stops to Pick-up Only

Looking out of the window of a Wrexham & Shropshire train at Wolverhampton. Due to moderation of competition clauses built in to the Virgin Trains franchise agreement, these competing open-access Wrexham & Shropshire services are not able to convey passengers between London and Wolverhampton. Wrexham & Shropshire trains do call at Wolverhampton but only to pick-up northbound and set-down southbound. This northbound train is seen on platform 3 and is forming the 1002 service to Wrexham General on Saturday 24th January 2009.

Redby L84CNY

From July 1998, Redby began operating several local services in Sunderland on behalf of Stagecoach. As part of the franchise agreement, Redby vehicles used on these duties were outshopped in full Stagecoach livery and one such vehicle was Marshall-bodied Volvo B6, L84CNY. The bus is seen in Crowtree Road, Sunderland, in the company of Stagecoach Busways’ Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart, 1770 (M770DRG) – 25th August 1998.
