I spent most of the day with the school counselor, which was so fun for me - I think I'm totally going to get a school counseling master's degree once I'm done with my bachelors - ei yi yi! While it was really cool to hang out with the counselor, my favorite part was getting to watch teacher Jill with her class. I heard lots of, "Excuse me! Everyone needs to be in their seats with their mouths shut!" and my favorite, "There are still tests out so there should be NO ONE talking!" coupled with a stern look and hands on her hips. This picture is hilarious to me because Jill's in the middle of telling that girl to meet her after class for a "talk." Dun dun dun! Jill was so much nicer than I would have been because she told the girl (I don't remember her name, but I definitely remember her attitude...) that she's not in trouble even though she's been choosing not to do her work. This is a classic scenario that proves to me that Jill is going to be one of the best teachers out there. Instead of condemning this girl and labeling her as underachieving or lazy, she chose to reach out to her in order to work out the problem. A lot of teachers, even Jill's supervising teacher, would have written this girl off, but not Jill. I'll bet that this girl's grades are up by the end of the year and Ms. Sinnott's faith in her will be a major reason why.

3/31/09 Today my brain hurts. I've been working on a letter to the faculty of my counseling degree program to address some issues that came up during my practicum this spring. (I was not performing at my best following the death of my husband in September.) The whole thing has been emotionally draining and now I'm feeling brain dead, thus the blank look in the photo. I hope the whole thing will be resolved by the end of next week. We'll see. Wish me luck.
